If Cowboys can gain some defensive steel, they are a very good chance of going deep into the finals. They throw the ball around a lot and don't get it wrong a lot. Their only problem is stopping the other team scoring a lot of tries.

ok .. so sometimes it is ok to drop on a trailing leg?
Disgraceful call. Dearden goes off and JAC gets 10 in the bin. Dearden stays on, so does JAC. Like get fu**ed with these calls this year. Huge moment in the game and Payten should blow up in the pc. Each game has a different referee/bunker interpretation. Probably see the exact opposite in one of the games tomorrow, probably against us

Was almost 2 blokes hip-dropping on Dearden, and wasnt even a penalty let alone a sinbin.. absolutely was the turning point, Dearden stayed on and coulnt run essentially for the rest of the game.. I guess credit to parra/moses for fighting back.. thats something we havent done this year.

Drinky was great as usual, he does have 2 fast weapon centres outside him though.. drinky is a threat himself obviously so between them its quite lethal.. not sure what centres we will have next year.. praying for a heidke miracle..

Why would it need to be a miracle?

a) that he gets fit and stays fit.. he's had 4 Cup games in 2 years, and
b) that he is the prodigal child we hope he will be that can slip straight into 1st grade and absolutely solve a massive problem for us @right ctr...

Our lives would be so much better if Charles was killing it in his spot and we just had to fix the 1 other ctr spot.. and put some fast wingers out there like Sami or Val or maybe whoever is coming to replace Sloan.. like the jigsaw becomes 10x easier... but as it is right now I dont think any of our 1-5 are locked in for 2026, and next year we have 2 of em in Drinky/Sami (assuming uninjured) locked in atleast...

As far as a), I'm not overly concerned. A number of players get injured a lot early in their careers. Remember Tedesco could hardly get on the field for about 3 years after he hit the scene? That broken bone in his foot just sounds like bad luck rather than being injury prone.

As for b), most of what I know comes about from your comments on him and he sounds like a superstar in the making.

The problem is constant injuries prevent a player becoming what they should be, these constant injuries might have stopped him from being a superstar athletic freak centre to now being a limited less powerful/fast player

Look at Dan Meafou, he used to cover the ground + kick ass and take names in SG ball and with all the injuries he’s lumbering around a bit slower now

You don't think it has more to do with him just getting bigger and a bit slower as a result? He might be slower over 15 metres now but I wonder how he would go over 100 meters against his former self. As for Heidke, as far as I know, a full recovery is expected. Though with that kind of injury, it might take him a month or so to get back to the same level of athleticism.

I remember Jesse Williams came back after a long injury lay off. In the first game he looked to have slowed a lot. I think it was Mug who said it'd take him a few weeks to get back to being as fast as he was. 2 weeks later, he scorched the other teams backs to score a long range try.
