As an old coach from a long bygone era I must say I am loving the fact young LPT is on the run on team. Size still does matter as I witnessed on Sunday. Loving his development.

Whilst we all know that KF lacks creativity, I believe that Young has also simplified his game. He has just told him to straighten the attack every chance he gets and leave the ball playing to Atkinson. It was fairly evident that our halves off the back of our go forward took the ball to the line double or triple the times of our previous games. So whilst the whole team deserves credit, to me KF did his job. And on another point so did Sloan, its really the first time I've seen him put his body on the line, not just the tackle on Staggs either. I know he probably doesn't manage defense as good as Gutho, maybe our more senior players take that role a bit more in helping him out when he is on the field.
I have ridden a rollercoaster with him for the last few years, one minute I think he's fine the next I want him gone, but on the weekend I saw a bit of a difference in him, could it actually be that he has actually started to give a f$#k, does he want to be a part of this club ? Anyway this next game will tell us a lot about where the team is at and in some ways what the coach can do. I believe we played well and forced the Bronco's to play poor, apart from the last 10min, but we also have to learn how to manage a game out, so I hope in some way we experienced that, so lesson learnt.
Well with Cook gone next season injury barring Liddle should be starting hooker, Watson will be 14 so where do you fit in Flanagan because Metcalf will be 7 and Atkinson will be 6. Interesting dilemma

What was Flanno thinking in regard to him? I understand he wanted to throw everyone under the bus who could possibly take Kyle's place but how he thought Blake, Kerr, Gular were better options than LPT makes no sense.

Anyway, glad things have been put right now and in the game against the Broncos, he was the 3rd best prop after Toby C and Haas. Haas' stats got a bit of a boost by brushing straight past the "strong defender" Kyle a few times like he wasn't there. But then again, I guess Benny Hunt also gave Toby and LPT a bit of a boost.

There was one moment from Flanagan in the second half that I enjoyed and want to see much more of. From a quick play the ball KF straightened and took Kerr to the line on his inside, Kerr got between the marker and A defender, and immediately offloaded back to Flanagan. This type of play is what I've been praying for and is our best shot of busting teams open, especially if Cook/Liddle hunts around with it. It utilises our strongest weapons - the big long-limbed forwards and speedy nines

Still seems like the side is far more competitive when Kyle plays.. I know its not a forever thing.. but maybe what we sacrifice in points we also gain in points not leaked.. I dunno but I think he has to play for 2026 (i.e. I wouldn't play O'Neill or LKT as a 7, maybe Atko.. maybe) .. other than maybe once Reed is back and has a game or 2 in Cup, maybe finish the year with 3-4 1st grade games for his experience.

Main thing is the streak is broken now so it takes that insane pressure off the Titans and Parra games... the R27 Parra game in particular.. we want to just blood some kids and have some fun, not play with the weight of the world on our shoulders.

It's an ask, but the kids up front get better every game and certainly weren't intimidated against the Broncs monster pack.

Val thrives on "look at me"; and he got buckets of it at Suncorp, so I expect him to fire at the Gummies, and enter a good form patch.

Suli is a talented monster who has trimmed down considerably and is heading into form, which should cause major headaches for opponents.

The halves appear to be meshing now, and playing to each others strengths; and I hope we keep Kyle, he is a far better player than presented with a big heart. Atkinson showed glimpses of why he was recruited, and I expect him to go well in the second half of the season. He has a point to demonstrate in this one, especially with Tricky killing it this year.

We can beat Cronulla, and if the lads continue from last week, they will. Consistency hasn't been much of a feature since Wayne left, but was the backbone of Dean Young's playing style, so there is hope that he can re-instill it in the team 15 years later.

On the fence and feeling trepidation re Young full time, but if he keeps them playing competitively I will certainly reconsider. One game does not a reversal make however you Fox League mouths on sticks.

You won't see the best of LPT for years yet but he is developing well but needed to get on the field, you can't develop sitting on a wooden bench

Keeping AFB and Trindall in check will go a very long way to winning this game. They are now missing their 7 and 9 so there will be no better opportunity to make it 2 in a row.

I thought I had one too many cold ones when I saw Kerr hit the ball at speed on 2 occasions in the one set of 6 but I watched the replay and he really did that. Lets hope we see a lot more of that kind a commitment with the pill in hand

If those players that we have been critical of continue to do what they did in the game against the Broncos in this next game against the Sharks, they might be worthy of hanging onto a bit longer :sneaky:. Maybe Young has worked out a solution for guys like KF, TS and MF and possibly Tu to get them playing better? We will see on Sunday I guess.

KF wasn't as bad as usual but still had a shocker.
TS made a reasonably good tackle on Staggs, nothing to get excited about but reasonable. That was about it.
MF is one I could agree is worth keeping on a low wage as backine depth but he's already signed in the ESL.
Tu was pretty good but I won't survive another season of heart in mouth stuff every time he touches the ball.

It was 1 win against a struggling team. Lets not pretend it was a premiership triumph.

I understand the situation next year JO. My reference with KF was to this year and at least helping to get the team some wins. Unfortunately for next year I see him in ressies as backup for injuries.
