I certainly hope that person is lying to you. All they have to do is look as his record as an assistant and interim head coach. My choice was Arthur or Cheika. Arthur just extended his stay in the ESL and frankly speaking, I hate to say it, but the Rorters are flying. So it has to be Cheika as far as I'm concerned.
I could live with Cheika on an initial 2 year deal, now that we have Anderson to manage player movements and Creagh to oversee the football department generally. It would be a hell of a fun ride either way.

I'm trying not to get too upset by it cause it seems like nothing is stopping Young's appointment.. half of me wants to support him and give him the best shot (which we can only hope he is better than we thought), but the other half wants to tear up my membership as a protest to this sort of decision-making.

I don't think it matters from here what the results are either.. but he had better hope we can knock off a titans or a parra or someone before the season is out.. before we end up on another losing tear... but there is no guarantee in even those games.

This is quite different from your "failing to be employed as a head coach" point though. Young could probably comfortably answer both of these questions given his appointments at Tonga and NSW. His fluffy interview on 100% Footy last week covers this
My point was nobody, anywhere he has been wants to give him the head coach job unless we are silly enough to do it to the detriment of our club perhaps. Time will tell

Good fella from another forum indicating there is 1 board member talking with Cheika.. another 100% in on Young.. I don't want to get anyones hopes up.. but that pleases me no end.. #soursayingtheresachance.
A wild stab in the dark here but I'm guessing the member 100% in on Young would either be Piggott or Bosilkovski?

Based on zero evidence. Just that when they go back to their Leagues club board they have to sit next to Dean's Dad and Peter Doust.

Seems to me that the timing of Doust leaving the Dragons is eerily coincidental with the possible forthcoming appointment of Dean Young as head coach and an attempt to remove all accusations of cronyism and nepotism.

Just a guess, and as I said, no evidence.

I agree with you if Young does not get appointed for at least the next 2 years I will be very surprised. I personally I would prefer Cheika or Slater or even Hornby however my view was that as soon as Young was appointed Flanagan's assistant 3 years ago it was always going to be Young as his replacement.

I don't doubt the rumours. They want to appoint Young and are working overtime to create the justification for it but I also think they must look at his performance and of they do that, they won't be able to justify appointing him.

The likelihood of the Dragons winning more games than losing for the remaining months of the season is very high odds in my opinion. With an ounce of luck we could win 2-3 games out of the 11 games - I'm not predicting who we will beat - but if it is only that small amount, surely the Board would not say that Young deserves the full time Head C position. It would be ludicrous and we will end up being the laughing stock next year even allowing for some decent signings - but decent signings mean shit if they are not coached to play effectively.
