i am operating with a very basic definition here ... The esteem that Nick is held in here does not match what has been delivered in first grade. ergo over hyped. Could actually live up to the hype and hope he does. yes limited opportunity and injury positional issues in cup etc .. but for now ... he doesnt desever the automatic selection that some in here feel he deserves. Would benefit from another shot though.

To be somewhat fair to Flanagan, Kerr is 5 years younger than JDB, and was playing pretty decent footy off the bench for the Dolphins. It wasn't a terrible signing at the time - similar in many ways to the Hame Sele signing - but it simply hasn't worked out
Completely fair and reasonable

I thought Kerr was a solid pickup but he looks so lethargic and slow this year

I’m much more relaxed about the forward pack though considering how versatile the forwards we have are. There’s no immediate concerns + the back row options coming through the grades are quality. Mason Andrews is another stud too, first grade bound in the next 2-3 years

Just going from bad to worse for the Warriors but still, Metcalf can't get on. How did Webster get as far as he has? Getting Shane and Kyle Flanagan vibes with Webster and Martin. Though Martin is at least 10x better than Kyle.

If it's any consolation. Manly have lost 6 and won 4 since Foran became the head coach on 2 June including today's game which I am predicting the Sharks will reach 50. Sharks leading 30-6 at half-time. Benji on a downward spiral and looks like Doueihi wants out altogether and break his contract.

But Manly signed an untested unknown head coach because the players liked him on social media. Sounds suspiciously like us

I remember that guy Blaize Talagi was in huge demand. Flanno, or was it Griffin, was after him for the Dragons as well. From what I've seen, he's very average but I thought due to his age, he'd get better. Now Ivan Cleary seems to have given up on him. This is what a good coach does. Persistently under performing players are held accountable.

I know people will point out Penrith have options but we don't but with a squad of almost 30 + 6 development players, there are options. Even if someone like LKT isn't better than Atkinson, at least it sends the message to Atkinson he'll be held accountable for his performance and equally LKT knows if he puts in the effort he'll get a chance. As for Kyle, he is the worst player in the 30 (or 28 or whatever is is now) + 6.

Gardiner has about 10yrs head coaching experience across all grades, can explain complex strategy simply... was absolutely the next best candidate..

He's no guarantee of success of course.. almost no coach is... but if they are going to take a punt.. seems it was always going to be on Deano.. agree though damn shame.. Gardiner was the best prospect.. some other club picks him up now, and if Deano fails we will once again look like prized fools like we were with the handling of Fitzgibbon and Ryles.
