We posted simultaneously Morgan Morgan.
Hopefully this may change with a handful of junior forwards now on either Development or Training contracts. Muhleisen, O'fou, Coric, Shereb, Atrobus( not sure about latter being a forward) I missed Couchman.

Did anyone watch the Broncos-Melbourne game tonight? Surely that puts to bed the idea Payne Haas is worth 1mil a year. Apparently he's on around 800K now and I think that's spot on what he's worth.

Everyone has an off game and Kevin Walters didn't put him back on for a second stint because he thought it's best to save him for a game with the possibility of winning. Having said that, I agree he's not worth 1mil but Taumalolo is on 1mil a season for about 8 years. He's overpaid but it suggests Haas is worth something similar, maybe a little less.

The following are definitely leaving, haven't been offered an extension so are almost certainly going or are being pushed out:
  • Gosiewski
  • Burns
  • McGuire
  • McCullough
  • Kerr
  • Moga
  • Faamausili
  • Ford
But still not even a rumour about how is going to replace them! Some of the Jersey Flegg/NSW Cup guys are going to come in but 8 plus development contract guys in one year? Don't think so.

I think Woods is gone as well. He had performance clauses in his contract which haven't been met. I thought the same was true of Burgess as well.

I think there is going to be a larger than normal influx of juniors into the top 30 + development players but not 10! No way in the world. Even if this was the great Flegg team ever. But I think
  • Jackson Shereb
  • Josh Coric
  • Toby Couchman
  • one other forward whose name I forget.
  • Conner Muhleisen and/or Sam Hooper
will all be in the top 30 or development players. Shalom O'Ofou will drop out.

Jayden Sullivan has requested a release from the Dragons, just waiting on if the Dragons to negotiate with the Bulldogs in towards salaries. Bulldogs fan who went to the Gong game yesterday, sat directly behind Sullivans’s mother, father and uncle and conservations we’ve overheard as that Canterbury have offered a deal on the table for 2 years in which hasnt been signed yet until he gets his release and Sullivan wants to come to play for a first grade opportunity and has met with the Dragons. Extremely disappointed with how his development has been treated. This has come from someone i know, mate of mine.

Canterbury can't offer him anything without the Dragons allowing it, which as far as I know, they haven't. If true, I guess it means the media reports are correct about his huge new deal. And Dragons are screwed for another 3 years. Good player but better hooker than halfback and worth not more than 800K a season.

Just last week the Dragons said Sullivan has a long future at St George Illawarra. I thought it meant Sullivan to halfback, Hunt to hooker.

Looks like Sullivan first wanted out without having any talks with any other teams, then manager has sent private emails to clubs in need of a 7 in which is the dogs and we have been the only team interested then dragons would of allowed it in some way to clear cap space and opportunity for a roster spot. My mate says its all but looking bad with Sullivan’s futute at the Dragons.

As numerous people said, if the report is true about the size of Hunt's new contract offer, he traveled at light-speed to sign it. So we have a week until it becomes official.

I thought you people were happy with Flanagan.

It's not so simple. If Hunt stays for a mil a year, as reports were saying, Sullivan will be gone because Hunt will be halfback. If Hunt stays for significantly less than that, it may be as we all hope, Hunt is going to play hooker and Sullivan halfback.

The jury is still out on whether Sullivan will ever be a first grade standard halfback. I think he will but it's far from sure.

Of course. I'm calm. But our recruitment staff are incompetent morons.
Over the past 2 years, they've really struggled. Unless the plan was for most of the new recruits to play in the NSW Cup. And the one's who aren't, Mbye, Macca, McGuire probably should be.

DRAGONS LOW-BALL HUNT AS RIVALS CIRCLE

The Dragons have low-balled skipper Ben Hunt with their extension offer opening the door for rival clubs to poach the Origin star. Channel 9’s Danny Weidler revealed on 100% Footy the Dragons’ extension offer is worth just $700,000 a season, which is some way short of the $875,000 that was suggested.

Given his age, Hunt was tipped to get a pay cut given his last deal was north of $1 million a season. However, given his form for the club and in the Origin arena, $700,000 is a lot less than what some clubs would be willing to pay for Hunt as a hooker or halfback.

The 32-year-old is signed until the end of 2023, but was looking for a two-year extension to finish his career at the Dragons. Hunt has scored 72 tries and 339 points in 287 NRL games for the Broncos and Dragons since his debut in 2009.

I don't think that's "low-balling" at all. Depends on what they want of him. If they don't rate Sullivan and want Hunt to play halfback, it may be low-balling a little. A little as far as %s go when talking those sums, a small % change is a lot of money. If they rate Sullivan, which just last week they said they do, and want Hunt to play hooker for 2 years until Purcell or Hooper take over, I think 700k is spot on. Just my view.
