Firstly, congratulations to you and Mrs @jodragon40 on your 45th wedding anniversary. And with SGI finally on the rise, here’s hoping your golden anniversary comes with a premiership to celebrate.
I’d much rather see Brown there than Sandon Smith, @Justadragon. I still haven’t recovered from Anzac Day last year when Smith made us look like a bunch of fourteen year olds.
I
At first glance, Jo, I honestly thought you’d posted the NSW Cup squad by mistake. It’s a long way from what I expected, but I’m actually pretty happy to see some of the up and comers getting a run alongside players with solid first-grade experience. I guess this means the Charity Shield now...
The first half against Newcastle should give us a clear idea of who Flanno sees as the top 17 (injuries aside). The second half might actually be more interesting, with fringe first‑graders and those pushing for a reserve spot on the Vegas trip getting their chance.
I would like to see Cook retained by the Dragons beyond this season in a non-playing support role. He strikes me as a person of good character, well‑respected by the playing group, and someone with experience across all levels of the game. I think he’d be a real asset working with young players...
From Manly’s perspective, Ken Arthurson was a very effective administrator. His philosophy was that it was better to sign one $500,000 star (in 1980s dollars) from another club than two $250,000 players. And as you say, Manly was very successful at it, regularly poaching the best talent...
Hello Dragsters. Earlier this week, Jodragon40 posted a video in the Round 1 Team of 2026 thread featuring Joseph O’Neill’s NSW Cup highlights. What stood out to me, was his ability to attract defence and put a runner through on either side of the ruck.
I know strong form in the lower grades...
That is very disappointing Edward. I was looking forward to seeing the dude from the grubs (O'Neill) get a run. Of all of our prospective 7s, he appears to be a natural organising halfback, with a good kicking game and experience playing in the seconds.
I think you’re right, Dave. I haven’t seen a lot of Daniel Anderson, but he strikes me as more of a running five‑eighth, whereas Joseph O’Neill looks like a genuine organising halfback.
I was hoping to see Joseph O'Neill and Daniel Anderson get a run in the halves at some point during the trials. With Liddle now injured, there’s a chance KF shifts to 14, which could open the door for O'Neill and Anderson to start at 6 and 7.
