In the last round the cream rose to the top. At least for this year. One day in the distant future we might name this the jodragon40 jodragon40 memorial tipping comp but he's finally been beaten. 8 points to J Justadragon, 4 to jodragon40 jodragon40 and 2 to Edward Edward.
So the final standing was:
  1. J Justadragon on 63 points
  2. jodragon40 jodragon40 on 51
  3. Eric Eric on 49
  4. Edward Edward on 46
  5. RedV01 RedV01 on 44
  6. DragonsTragic DragonsTragic on 38
  7. myself and GCRV GCRV on 33
  8. Dragons Chris Dragons Chris on 26
  9. Ryan Ryan on 17
Hopefully next year we can get a prize. Anyone know what they do on other forums? Not LU but any of the other clubs forum. Do they run a tipping comp and have prizes?

Thankyou to all who participated and Morgan for running the show, as this is my first year in this forum, which I must say is the best forum, it has been really good tipping and exciting to the end, so well done everyone. As far as prizes go, some other forums offer it through sponsorship etc like some Dragons merchandise, I for one didn't care about prizes as the general banter kept me interested. Good luck to all for next year and see if we cant keep Jo on his toes again,

Well done J Justadragon a deserved winner and I echo your sentiments in relation to Morgan Morgan Its the banter of like minded people in this particular area of this forum that acts as a safety release valve so we can have a distraction from the continuing underachieving club that we all love so much.

There's an.old saying, " There's no prizes for running 2nd". Well here There's non for running first lol. However in 3 seasons of tipping and I have always climbed those steps onto the podium, to shake the champagne bottle not a bad effort in anyone's books.

Everyone enjoy the off season and stay safe. I was a touch distracted this year as I was arranging our next overseas holiday for myself , my brother in law and sister in law, a great deal involved in that, which just happens to include a Kangaroos game at Wembley, but no excuses.

Look forward to speaking to you all in the near future.

I'm not/can't afford to put up prize money myself. Having said that, would anyone object if I sought some kind of sponsorship for the tipping only? Something like a small banner at the top of every post like the one quoted above.

But I work in logistics. I don't do sales and marketing. I was thinking about firing off a few emails and simply asking, yes or no, if it's something they would be interested in. Maybe a gift voucher at a restaurant because merchandise sales is more and more handled online. Though that would also be fine I guess. Could try both.

Then it would be a question of prizes. Winner takes all or 1st, 2nd and 3rd? And how much should I ask them to sponsor for? Any suggestions are most welcome. Here or in a PM. As I said, I don't know anything about sales and marketing.

Though one day, not anytime soon, in many years from now, "The JoDragon40 Memorial Tipping Comp" sounds good.

Hey lads memorials are usually, rule of thumb dedicated to people who have passed on. Thankfully I'm not yet there 😅

Ok Eric, there are a couple of ways its done,

option A : Firstly you write to head office of a major franchise, Bunnings, McDonalds, BBQ Galore etc, tell them you run a public online forum(details of what sort of forum, members etc) and if they would like to sponsor the Tipping Thread and provide a prize for the winner eg: a $200.00 gift voucher from whoever. For that they will get this sort of advertisement in the forum(you decide how that is going to look like).

option B : For everyone that wants to play in the tipping comp, they can donate $5 , 10, 20 per player at the beginning and then the prizes can be Winner takes all, 1st 2nd and 3rd and maybe even a prize for last, its up to you. Bank transfers before the comp starts.

Thanks for your input, J Justadragon. I like the first option. If users have their own skin in the game, as they say, I fear it will lead to arguments. But I thought I should target relatively successful, local businesses in southern Sydney or Wollongong. Because the big multinationals won't do it without running something past their lawyers and demand some kind of contract and all that nonsense. Not going to happen for $200.

I was thinking to either add a small advertising banner which directs to a URL of their choosing at the top of the thread or Morgan Morgan includes it in the updated scores every week. Not both for $200. Maybe both if they want to throw in more money.

As no one has signaled to me they are against it, I think that's what I'll do. Do you think a $200 gift voucher is the right amount? A bit more of less? And top 3 or winner takes all?

All I can do is ask. I don't do sales or marketing. If they want to get involved, great. If not, go in peace. I'm not going to knock on doors or do a "sales pitch" or anything like that.

Can you please make any gift cards retrospective so I can collect 2 x $200 gift cards please. Its only fair.

I think everything should be based around the current winner :) but in all honesty, $200.00 dollars is fine, winner take all. I mean it costs nothing to play or join and everyone should be happy with that.
