Long term halves pairing is Reed and LKT unless Atkinson is really good so it becomes Reed or LKT band Atkinson. But that will be under a different coach. Under this one it will be Kyle Flanangan and Reed, LKT or Atkinson. Seems Flanno has marked LKTs papers so Reed or Atkinson and Kyle Flanagan.

Reed appears to be a serious talent, and I hope he develops into an elite NRL player. I just worry we might be placing all of our hopes on a single option.

Big Nelson is a gamble, but one I believe is worth taking. He brings the aggression and the go forward that we've lacked in recent seasons and could positively influence the playing style of our other forwards. Even if he’s sidelined due to the inevitable suspension, his presence in the games he does play will provide the impact we urgently need
The only issue I have with him is he looks slower now. The game is getting faster and more mobile. Would be a big risk unless storm pay for half his salary.

I agree Dave03 that he would probably be slower that the other six starting forwards. However, once he gets up to speed, he is difficult to stop. In relation to his contract, I read somewhere that he is on $800K with the Storm. I'm not sure how accurate that amount is, but it is probably not that much more than what we are paying Luciano or a couple of the others.

I really dont know what to think anymore, considering we were supposed to be chasing a marquee halfback, where has that gone ?

I think Flanno has knocked that on the head. He thinks that Atkinson will be the one that is all we need to play alongside Kyle. Then we will still have Ilias, LKT and Reed. Flanno also banking on our current forwards to do a better job next year when all the injured forwards return as well as the centres, Holmes and Suli. Again, any injuries in 2026 and he will have a plethora of experienced young guns to choose from, having already experienced several games in firsts when all those injured players were out for much of this year.
Putting that aside, I think that Anderson is working on several positions to be filled by players externally, otherwise why the hell has been employed? These will probably be announced on 1 November.
That's my 10 cents worth anyway.

Wonder if there would have been screams of Old Boys Club and Nepotism if we had managed to snaffle this kid. Knowing our front office, it's probably the first they've heard of it.
