Is that that Tom Eisenhuth behind Lawrie? What's going on? Is that Kade Reed next to Lawrie?

Flanno emphasising what Cook & Gutho bring as part of leadership on non-gameday is stuff like Gutho going to the basketball game with Sloan. They'll get to know each other but also talk about footy in a natural casual manner that you wouldn't get from Hunt. These sort of 'human touches' can be crucial for a player like Sloan who appears to be an emotionally receptive type of person (e.g. like Hynes).

Gutho is spot on. Love reading these comments from him.

"You have got to build relationships; that's how you build culture. You're getting to know each other away from footy, not just at footy," he said.
"That's what I've always been big on as a player and as a leader, getting to know each other. It doesn't matter where you're from or how old you are; you got to know them. That's where I started."

Yea, I don't know what's going to happen with him. I really think SL is his best shot to enjoy footy. I can't see any other clubs offering him a top 30 spot tbh.
He's probably much better suited to ESL. The way their defence isn't as hard as it is in the NRL. He can do his thing of running straight and hard but not get hammered and pushed back. Surprised they don't want him. I guess they don't otherwise why would be be sticking around? Could have a large part of his contract paid by the Dragons and still his ESL salary. Seems pretty obvious his first grade career in the NRL is over.

What does that mean? Is that tackling and then moving away back into the defensive line?

Nail is the last tackler holding the ball player down, the idea is to be able to get to your feet before you release them.

Jack Gosiewski Poasa Faamausili Jaiyden Hunt Billy Burns Josh Kerr all have top 30 contracts all clubs need fillers.

Interested to see the return of our guys who had international commitments. Especially Suli & Luch, hope they've been keeping fitting. JDB looks like a natural with keeping fit. I think it's just those 3 & F. Molo.

The perfect off-season for every NRL club

DRAGONS

For all the hype over Ben Hunt leaving a massive void at the club, he did only make one finals series in seven seasons at the Dragons. Shane Flanagan’s call to release him could seem foolish, but if he gets a better balanced squad capable of winning more games he has done his job. The fact he has brought in Lachan Ilias and Daniel Atkinson in the next two seasons shows he is focused on building a competitive roster with spots not guaranteed to anyone.

The Dragons have been one of the biggest movers in the recruitment stakes heading into 2025 in a bid to break their finals drought, after missing the top eight by a win last season. The acquisitions of Damien Cook and Ilias from the Rabbitohs, Valentine Holmes from the Cowboys and Clint Gutherson from the Eels will see them field a new look team in 2025.

Unfortunately, the arrivals have been offset by the loss of their most influential player in Hunt, who takes an NRL best 34 try assists with him to the Broncos next season. But that is not to say that with increased roles and ownership of the team, Ilias and Kyle Flanagan can’t step up and realise their potential as NRL playmakers.

Gutherson and Holmes will add some strike out wide and Cook’s running game will help from dummy half, so Ilias and Flanagan will get every chance to improve as playmakers in 2025. The pair’s kicking games will also be crucial to replacing Hunt by committee, especially given Gutherson and Cook are not noted kickers.

Gutherson’s arrival also pushes one of the Dragons’ best attacking weapons in Tyrell Sloan to the wing, but that could make him even more dangerous without the extra responsibility of the No.1 jersey. And serving his apprenticeship under Gutherson can mould Sloan into the Dragons’ long-term fullback of the future. The added bonus of Gutho: he’s exceptionally fit and already setting new standards in that regard at St George Illawarra.

Hunt’s reign at the Dragons is over and the club can move on from overpaying for one position at the expense of building a team capable of making a deep finals run.

Not sure about Sloan being the best attacking player and not sure he's suited to wing. As for raw talent, he was the best attacking player but he only showed it off once every few games.
