2025 Round 1 vs Canterbury

I think Klemmer by Round 1 is all but gone as an option.. the question is are we working on (and we do have the funds) to offload a 2nd player while we wait for the Frank situation to sort itself out.. who knows how long we could be waiting otherwise, if indeed hes still on market.
Not even the ESL wants anything to do with Lawrie and Ravalawa? Mike Molo also I think is superflous to the first grade teams needs. Also my favourite player but for some bizzare reason, he was just re-signed.

If Luch can't play 80min in the backrow, Egan should be in while Luch gets fitter in NSW Cup. Backrowers are supposed to play 80min.

Luch had multiple games playing less than 80mins last year, not all back rowers play 80mins. Egan is not better than Luch.

CT goes straight in, Si would be disappointed.. Is Sele injured? or Hamish beat him out for a position on the bench? We are short a prop on that bench, JDB will be playing big minutes, he will move into prop when Guler comes off i assume.

Yea CT was always going straight in in my books, after last year he deserves first crack. I'd absolutely have Finau over Mat but maybe he's not 100% or something, he'd be disappointed but hopefully earns his spot soon.

RFM is the interesting one for me, don't rate him in the middle at all (sele injured?), unless Flannos doing something funky with the Edge rotation, but fair play to him maybe he's had a solid pre season and hope he proves me wrong. Can't wait to kick off the season, keen to see the Couchies and Hamish to give it to the dogs!

Why CT would be picked before Finau has me stumped. Why he isn't the other winger with CT makes me think he might have run over Flanno's dog..... or get into a stink with Kyle? Sorry to say.

Or something much more mundane. He isn't fit. I read he had some heatstroke and some concussion from the high shot. Heat stroke in particular is wicked. It can take a couple of days to get over.

Something much more Mundine? He retired a long time ago.

WOW. That would be enough to get anyone sacked under Flanno. Best thing about the team about to be announced is that we can stop arguing about who will be named and instead argue about why he was named. For the record:
  1. Gutho
  2. CT
  3. Suli
  4. Holmes
  5. Finau
  6. Flanagan
  7. Illias
  8. Gular
  9. Cook
  10. Toby Couchman
  11. Luch
  12. Su'A
  13. JDB

  14. Liddle
  15. Ryan Couchman
  16. RFM
  17. Stewart
I think the only debate is around the wingers and Stewart or LPT.

Yeah I’d have had Sele on the bench over Stewart personally but sounds like he might be carrying a niggle. Fortunately dogs pack is on the smaller side but their line speed and intensity is immense. Big ask for Stewart

Penrith pack is seriously small. Maybe having a big pack is overrated.

Well maybe that was a problem. As for Luch being better than Egan, maybe true. Probably true but like all the other good edge backrowers he needs to play 80min. That's the deal. Play 80min or turn yourself into a middle forward.

Wow round 1 and we blood a middle forward, young Couchman starting prop, wow, I wish him well but against the Dogs bookends he will need to assert himself early or we just wont match them there. No backs off the bench in case one is injured. Feigai on one wing, CT on the other, and his first hit out. It's a risk, a big risk in my view. They have us for speed on the touchlines.

It's good.
I wish those players the very best and hope that they prove me wrong but to my eye young Couchman is too light at the moment to start a game as a bookend. I hope he holds his own and I eat my words. As I said the coach knows better than me but we are short a prop and blooding Stewart in the 1st game of the competition is out of right field.
