Surprised Ramsey didn't win NSW Cup player of the year. I thought Cook would win player of the year as well. Guthos's second half of the year was average. No real surprises.

Hi GCRV

I have managed to get some info for you on the 3 awards you mentioned -

*St George Illawarra Dragons' Mark Coyne Trophy awarded to a player annually for career development (inaugural year 2007).

*The St. George Illawarra Dragons annually present the "Geoff Selby Memorial Coach's Award" to recognise the player who is the most valuable during the season. Selby was killed in a car accident in 1989.

*The Immortals Trophy is an annual award presented by the St. George Illawarra Dragons rugby league club to a player demonstrating outstanding commitment, dedication, and attitude in all aspects of their rugby league career. The award is a prestigious honour, as the selection process involves the club's coaching staff and its living "Immortals" — legendary former players who embody the club's values. The trophy is a recognition of a player's exceptional professionalism, work ethic, and contribution to the team, both on and off the field.
The Dragons' Immortals
  • The award is named after the "Immortals" of the St. George club.
  • These individuals are considered to be legendary figures who have made significant contributions to the club.
  • The trophy serves as a way for the current players to uphold the standards set by these past legends.
Criteria for the Award

  • Commitment: A player's dedication to the sport and the club.
  • Dedication: The effort and focus a player brings to training and performances.
  • Attitude: A positive and disciplined approach to all aspects of rugby league.

Purpose of the Trophy
  • To recognise and reward players who consistently embody the club's core values and ideals.
  • To inspire other players to strive for excellence in their performance and conduct.
  • To ensure the legacy of the Dragons' Immortals lives on through the players of today.
Hope all this helps.

You are welcome GCRV. That Immortals Trophy is a worthy one. Lots of criteria etc needed to be satisfied and Cooky must have had most covered.
I reckon Hamish Stewart was within a mm of claiming player of the year. Not sure how Gutho won. He was good for the most part but not more. I'd have had him behind Stewart, JDB and Cook. Maybe Liddle as well. Su'A and Holmes spent a little too much time on the sidelines.

It's true but how healthy are Penrith? Have any of their best 17 picked up a long term injury? I think it's got something to do with the way Cleary plays the game helps prevent a lot of injuries. No hospital passes, a lot of putting ball runners into gaps. Kicking game helping prevent their players getting gang tackled in the corners when bringing the ball out from kicks and etc. Just a theory but they are remarkably injury free.

If Gutho plays Fullback again next year , a year older and a year slower he is going to be shown up even more ....... We need players with speed and Im afraid that Flanno's type of players are the big slower players that can cart the ball up on settlers ......... He let the two fast wingers go to the Raiders and kept The Money Man ....... I am having second thoughts now about letting Sloan go because of the lack of speed in the team ........ Anyway lets see how it pans out next year , hopefully Ando has some fast athletic players on his radar ........

Flanno seems to really rate the Money Man. He sees him as other coaches see a gun halfback a gun hooker (he thinks we already have a gun halfback) who has to be rushed back despite doubts over fitness.

I hope Jesse Williams can be in the team a year earlier than I think everyone thinks. He's certainly big enough and fast as well.

How did Flanno not see that 3 years for Gutherson was way too long?

Yeah I too am a Cleary fan. How I'd love to see him in a Dragons jersey. At 27, he has everything. Football smarts. Good organizer and defender. Top notch goal kicker. His bad games are very rare. Easily worth whatever they're paying him in my opinion. I can even tolerate the team that he plays for!

The Panthers may have been injury free Eric, but there is absolutely no excuse for what we dished out in our last 3 games. It was horrible and pathetic. There is such a thing as pride in the jumper and commitment to your teammates. It was a disastrous way to finish and reinforced the predictions of most that we are no more than a struggling bottom 4 side. Its up to the club to do something about it, the only happy memory that I will have of 2025 is that KOE made the GF. If that is what us fans of this once mighty club have to now accept. then so be it. We have been poorly managed and poorly coached for over 15 years now, and what has changed. I really hope that our juniors can do something next year, but I have already been burnt thinking that will happen years ago. Until I can see this team competing with the appropriate players week in week out, then my passion and love for the club will return, For the moment we have had the life sucked out of us with all the debacles and disasters that have happened over many years and if the dwindling crowd numbers, worst in the league I think, are not a good indication that supporters have had a gutful, then I dont know what is. We may as well call a spade a spade. both our mens and womens team suck !!! Now what is this club going to do about it.
