I expected yesterday to be more polarising than it was (i.e. rly positive win or rly negative flogging).... in the end we did really more than enough to win, Flanno got them up in a high pressure match.. and despite all the ref stuff (multiple penalties with the ball ffs, thats stuff never gets called), we had far more chances to win the game but we just cant pot a fieldgoal to save ourselves... same story last year... the kicks dont even look like going over...

But anyway my point was.. we didnt lose any cred yesterday, but the pressure on Flanno will turn up deluxe if we end up 0from4 for example.. which could easily happen.. his future is still in the teams hands.. we also cant keep that intensity up I dont think for long periods of the year.

I struggled to watch first grade last year, certainly didnt enjoy it.... and this year I don't know if I can.. I hate how hard we have to work to 'maybe' scrape over the line against rosters so much slicker than ours.. its too much emotionally honestly.. I didnt really even watch yesterday in detail.. just had it on while doing other stuff, just wish we could teleport 12mths into the future where we have hopefully some rays of hope in the roster, and whatever has gone down with the coaching situation by then.

that kiraz KO probably would have ended up a penalty to them as well.

The two that were more likely to be ours were the Kikau hit late on Atkinson and the arm pull/head slam on Suli. Apparantly pulling the arm away to get a strip was in the same memo as the ruling on Couchman.

How's ryles coaching performance? Eels already done for the season.
How's Ennis in commentary between fits of laughter saying they should drive back and go straight into training. You are our attack coach Mr. Ennis. Glass houses and stones Mr. Ennis, glass houses and stones.

How does Mr. Lomax get into that backline with Mr. Coats still to come into it? By the looks of that, it would either of them in reserve grade.

Don't speak too soon Dave. We play them in round 3. But, yeah so far it looks like they will be down the table this year. Not good getting done by 50+. It means they will not win the grand final. If they get there.
Just as I thought after beating the Broncos last night - don't speak too soon. 2026 for many teams will be ups and downs. Broncos will come good but how good is the question?

Melbourne and Penrith looked miles ahead of any other team after round 1. Something is not right in the Broncos camp. Haas left for the same money Broncos were offering. I watched last night when Walsh scored the try off a chip kick. He was happy and celebrating with other teammates but when Haas approached, both looked frosty. Smiles disappeared very quickly.

The point being, I'm dreaming of Haas being released to Souffs immediately and KK being released to the Dragons immediately.

Your last sentence would be ideal for us that's for sure for 2026 GCRV but I cannot see that happening. The Broncos have yet to finalise arrangements to secure Mitch Barnett leaving the Warriors with a year left to run after this year - his deal at the Warriors goes to the end of 2027 and therefore while the Warriors would be willing to let Barnett go to the Broncos at the end of 2026, they want a player from the Broncos as well to compensate for their loss of Barnett for 2027 - so there could be some hiccups there. They have nominated a player - as per https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...s/news-story/8fc60bd66c9f95b89fba00fe633c07e9 but Maguire won't want to release him.

So, to get Barnett immediately at the Broncos to allow for the release of Haas immediately which then we ask for KK to be released immediately will be tantamount to being impossible. I have a feeling that Haas is not happy at the Broncos and he could be the source of the problem why the Broncos have not played all that well so far this year. His "unhappiness" could be having an adverse affect on other players in the Broncos team. Even when he scored his try he didn't seem overjoyed.

Agree with you re Penrith and Storm being standouts after round 1.
