There is an 80k salary for supplementary deals plus $3k per game match payment. There is a total cap there of 650k for the six players plus match fees.

i.e. very good for a 19~20 year-old not quite ready for first grade yet.

But it'd still be good to get Flanno's deadwood, highlighted by we all know who, off the books.

Or put more money into the reserve grade competition. Because 12 development players + whoever is in the top 30 but not playing first grade = a pro reserve grade team.

its tricky though cause if you have 12 dev spots per team, thats 6 more gun juniors the rorters and dogs etc can hog.. granted those kids still need to see a pathway into 1st grade eventually, or they will still want out.

But yeah it is tough with just 6 cause there are a lot of good kids who end up on T&T only.. and we cant fit the best of each position in the 6 either.. be nice to have a bit more coverage in there.

The best thing to do, or best way to handle the situation, is to have minimal deadwood in the top 30. There's always going to be 1 maybe 2 who doesn't work out but next year we'll have Kyle, Gutho, Kerr without even going into players who have underpermed for a while like Suli.

LKT and Hodges are much better baxkup 5/8s.

Reed is a much better backup halfback.

Atko is the epitome of deadwood.

In the past we guaranteed players nrl deals 3-4 years out, with ando now here I don’t think we will be doing that anymore. Players like Burton/papualli etc should have a year of full time T&T (like this year) to assess them before moving into either a dev deal or a top 30 deal. I mean it was that bad at one stage we had mmolo on a dev deal… FMD

Then there are 1 day T&T deals plus around 30 Elite Academy players.

4. THE GUTHO CONUNDRUM​

Gutherson is in the final year of a rich contract. He has maintained that he wants to play on next year despite some concerns regarding his knee. The question is though what position can he play? It is expected he will get a crack at centre and potentially on the wing during the pre-season but the turn of pace needed for those spots may make it difficult to have him there. Does he become a bench player as a back-up utility who may be able to play lock? Regardless his position is one of intrigue.

At this stage, the only position possible for Nuffo is reserve grade fullback and captain. Unless someone can slip come coke into his drink and organise for a cop to pull him over for a drug test.

God knows where our current joint club cpt Gutherson fits in. I have a horrible feeling into a centre spot moving Holmes to a wing spot instead of TU but God help us if that occurs.

The problem is he is on about $800k and you can't in your right mind have a player on that coin playing anywhere else except 1sts.

I dont believe Kerr deserves a top 17 position either. Its a predicament.

I luv gutho but to slow for centre

I was very much against his signing. Not because I never rated him but because I no longer rated him. Too slow to make it as a fullback in the modern game. Can't tackle in the frontline well enough. Not big enough and/or fast enough to make it as a winger.

Having said that, even I didn't think he'd be as bad as he has been. Not his fault. He still gives 110%, unlike Val or so it seems. He's just not fast enough nowadays.
