We are seriously in trouble if we give the job to Deano. Hornby should really test himself overseas. It's Arthur or nobody for me. We will continue to be shithouse if the Board sticks with Deano. Never has had any success even as an assistant coach in my opinion. Yes his heart is with the Dragons but that means shit as far as I am concerned. Its being able to manage a squad of fulltime rugby league players on and off the field and give plenty of guidance and mentoring. I don't think that Deano has got those attributes in total.
It would be ridiculous which is why I doubt it's under serious consideration. I hope so anyway. I think everyone has had it with father than son duos in important positions for a while.

Well Tim Watsford who was watching another loss at Kogarah against the Warriors has come out publicly and said that the interviews for our new head coach will commence in June.

My only advice, is take your time and make sure you select the right head coach. I personally fear that this current crop of talented young forwards will be wasted or lost if you don't.

Were they giving Deano a few weeks to see what he could do and have now determined he's not up to the job?

Don't know but to me he was never the answer. In my experience the three main factors in retaining and recruiting has always been:

1. Money, money, money
2. The ability of the club to have a competitive top 4 team and a chance of playing in a GF
3. The coach, can he improve me? Do I want to be coached by him? Is he rated highly.

Imo no to Arthur and Demetriou
When Arthur took over Parra they were in crisis. He turned them into a premiership heavyweight pretty quickly. He might have overstayed a bit and the roster needed to be regenerated but that happens a lot to long-term coaches. That's the way I see it anyway. I'd be happy for him or Cheika to be appointed. Hornby a distant 3rd.

Yep, I have reservations about Arthur due to age , getting sacked from Parra etc. However, his teams massive win over the defending premiers in Las Vegas was super impressive, and they really played a great style of football. So, I wouldn't say no to him.
Arthur is 5ish years older than Hornby, age isn't an issue, it's adaptability to the rules. He took eels to multiple finals, built a great roster but wasn't able to rejuvenate it properly. Apart from Bellamy, all coaches get sacked or move on.

Holbrook is doing wonders at the Knights because his style of coaching suits the current rules. I don't imagine the game slowing down next season, heaps of sports are getting faster & rewarding attack more than ever. Defs need a good attack coach.

Jesus, he is 52 . What I look at is has he improved the performance of his individual players and the squad as a whole? The answer is Yes

100% Joe. Take your time, deliberate and think about the past. As the CEO of the Dragons of which you have almost reached a year of your appointment (2/6/25), you have seen first hand how poorly we have performed to this day. We as fans and members of this Club have endured nearly a decade and a half of some up but much more down results and given the appointments of Head Coaches since Wayne Bennett's successful stint from 2009-2011, those coaches, namely Steve Price, Paul McGregor, Anthony Griffin and Shane Flanagan, as you would now know have not brought about any ongoing success. Besides the mediocre coaching the Dragons have had, many of the signings of what was deemed to be "improved" signings mostly have failed - and as recent as the start of this year, Shane Flanagan stated that the club did not have the cattle.

So, that was the past and following the sacking of Shane Flanagan, now is the Club's chance to make good all those wrongs and think very hard to make the right choice as to the next Head Coach that will be appointed to re-build the Club back to say the Bennett era and ensure that the future years will continue to be successful.

I hope that somebody in authority is listening to us

I hope so too Joe. Surely these men who run the Club should have the same thoughts as us. The Joint Venture is now in its 27th year. 2010 was the best of those years. That was 16 years ago and now it is time to make sure that from 2027 the Club becomes the team to beat ensuring that our younger players dominate and bring about success which they and the fans deserve.
