Dean young

Young putting in place ACs that tier down who may be competent but may not be pushing for the top job.

Agree and that in my experience is not a good scenario. Head Coaching no matter at what level is akin to a player. If you do not have pressure on your position in 1sts from a ressies player then human nature dictates that you are not going to be performing at your optimum level on a consistent basis. There is no fear factor. Nothing pushing you onwards and upwards. Seen that far too many times myself. Just my views.

Riccio reporting that Young has appointed his staff for next year. Nathan Fein is back and Dave Howlett - Former Endevour sports high coach and sharks pathways coach.

Excited for some new voices and fresh ideas on how to play. Hope Talau is still involved somewhere though

these were my exact thoughts.. dunno if Talau will want another year in NSW Cup.. may mean he moves on. Lets see.. not sure if there is room for 3 assistants.

All that said its a lot like Josh Jackson @ the dogs.. Talau might be perfect for a longterm role coaching one of the lower grades and being involved with pathways.. I dont see whats wrong with that.. so good for a club to have quality coaches along the way.... but if he has HC aspirations.. fair enough, NRL assistant is the progression.

Can't see Wilie staying on after being full-time assistant coach.

Im back, survived surgery looking forwards to 2027 and more importantly my 3 cruises booked starting from this December. Just my thoughts on our assistant coaches appointments.

Surprised that Talau wasn't given an assistant coaching job. He has impressed me over the last few seasons coming from a coaches perspective feel a bit sorry for him.

Surprised with Howlett appointment, and yes I know he has been successful at schoolboys and pathways for very many years but not sure those experiences will be as effective in 1sts. Time will tell.

Nathan Fein well the proof will be in the pudding with him. Has a relationship with Young from our 2010 GF winning team. Has only been an assistant coach for 2 yrs with the Dolphins I believe attacking co ordinator. Not sure that is enough experience to make a impact again time will tell.

Its much easier to shine as an assistant coach if you have the tools to work with. Hamiso, Cobbo, Bostock and Farnsworth not hard to coach that quality to what he has to achieve coming to us with our lack of quality. Be very interesting to see what he can achieve and more importantly has to achieve as to make us a genuine top 8 team.

Welcome back jodragon40. I hope that your surgery was successful and that the 3 cruises that have been booked for you to go on in December will be nice and relaxing and fun.

Yes, we are all looking forward to 2027 with high anticipation of better things for the Dragons and obviously ourselves.

The assistant coaching appointments as you know have not as yet been made official via the website. When that happens I am sure that the club will announce all of the staff in 2027 including assistant coaches, coaches for the lower grades and appropriate write ups on them.

Nothing wrong with that if he is content to bide his time there but

is Deano already playing politics by not appointing the most qualified assistant but rather an assistant who will never be appointed to take his place? Like Deano too Flanno's place and Carr too Griffin's place.

Yes surly Willie would move on I would have thought for sure he would help Dean but since he has been over looked he would have to move on. Or does he stay NSW Coach
