Just using every last bit of my imagination to try to put a positive spin on it.Hmm dont know about that Eric, a billionaire in the Bahama's, who would care less about a performance center in the Gong.

I just hope that it doesn't turn out to be a place where old records go to die.100% George, the Dragons have been a retirement home for many a player, we should also have an Alzheimer's ward to cater for the players who cant remember what its like to be in finals or god forbid win a premiership.
Spoken like a true Dragons fan, hanging on to every last possible threadJust using every last bit of my imagination to try to put a positive spin on it.
There must be something going on behind the scenes because otherwise this (naming the COE after a board member and business owner who never wore the Red V) is just weird.Just using every last bit of my imagination to try to put a positive spin on it.
RIP Ray ConnellyFrom Coyne to Cooper, Dragons mourn passing of beloved club icon
It’s the people who make footy clubs, and the Dragons will never be the same following the sad passing of Ray Connelly, the Red V’s longest-serving gear steward.

I didn't know this person but they are some excellent pics.
Maybe we should have named the COE after Ray !!From Coyne to Cooper, Dragons mourn passing of beloved club icon

Ray would be a more appropriate person to be named on the Centre. He dedicated his life basically to the Dragons and was well liked.May we should have named the COE after Ray !!
Looking forward to seeing the lower grades for next year. As you say, half the battle will already be won if the young forwards keep progressing as they've been doing.ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS
Last premiership: 2010 (15 years)
Last grand final appearance: 2010
Premiership window (analysis)
Carayannis: 4-6 years
They’ve got a really good young forward pack coming through and there is belief in the club that they can turn the squad into an elite side. However their current roster isn’t playing finals next season and will struggle to do it the following year so they are four to six years away.
Riccio: 4-6 years
I love what they’ve done with blooding so much young talent. They’ve got some guns in Hamish Stewart, Dylan Egan, Jacob Halangahu and Nick Tsourgranis. When you get that mixed blend of raw exciting talent, with some experience that’s the recipe for a Shane Flanagan premiership.
Read: 7-9 years
Their spine needs a complete overhaul. Stack it against Penrith, Melbourne, Brisbane - I could name 15 teams and it doesn’t compete. They need to find an elite half. They’ve said it themselves.
4~6 years is very harsh which seems to be the case they themselves are making. A good. young forward pack is literally half the battle.
As for Read, not sure what he's talking about. Gutho had a good year though it's true the teams needs more speed across the backline. Liddle has been consistently good since he came. LKT just turned 20. Need a halfback but not sure the spine needs a complete overhaul at all.
Based on those predictions by those 3 journalists, the average earliest will be 5 years time that we will win a premiership. How they can forecast this is beyond me. They say we have a good crop of young forwards coming through the system and our spine is how do you do. Well starting off with the spine, in 5 years time possibly we will have tried several halves in the next couple of years and we will settle on a couple but who knows who? Gutho, Suli, Holmes, CT, Feagai gone so who will be in the back line?ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS

After more than 3-4 years it's pure guesswork.Based on those predictions by those 3 journalists, the average earliest will be 5 years time that we will win a premiership. Quite a lot of our forwards are young and will be there in 5 years (the year of 2030), some moved on or signed elsewhere. So in essence, there will be a lot of changes to the squad before we reach 5 years and I don't think Shane will be there.
Can't see me jumping up and down in 5 years time yelling "you bloody beauty we have won the grand final" but who knows, I might be dribbling out words to that effect in my wheel chair.
Who are Norm Provan, Reg Gasnier, Johnny Raper, Graham Langlands and a whole heap of next tier down names compared to some rich guy called Batman or something? Shouldn't complain about the COE being named after him.I have to say, at first I just didn't understand it but now the "whinging" added to the end of this thread and the other just looks silly. Someone should change it back.

Let's just wait and see. We won't be winning the competition next year. After that, no one knows. Coaches are probably most important. When wherever Bellamy is coaching, they will be good. At least from the second year. Ditto Cleary. Not sure about old Wayne. Even coaches lose touch with the game at some point, IMO.After more than 3-4 years it's pure guesswork.

Not sure about Flanno either. Time will tell. He inherited a mess. Now Anderson is taking care of the cap, allowing Flanno to concentrate on coaching, I think we will see a big improvement almost immediately.
SarcasmSeriously?
Thought so anyway leaving shortly for a well earnt holiday. Game 2 Roos v Lions here I comeSarcasm
