GF: Roosters v Knights

Lets not forget Dave that we are also owned by a wealthy man, have you ever seen him at games, or at other functions, no and you never will because he's in the Bahamas !!!
Yes that is our big problem Justa. He is just a figurehead. Figure that out!!
Uncle Nick is at most games when he isn't out with his rich buddies. He is proud as fruit punch to be in the sheds, on the field after the game talking to all of the players, boosting their egos and acknowledging their service to the red white and blue Club.
Uncle Bruce just couldn't give a stuff and there they are naming the Centre of Excellence after him. What a piss poor act.
If the Club is serious with wanting it to become really successful that particular owner has to really take more of an interest and help us rise and stay up there. My days of that happening unfortunately has disappeared.

Switched off the grand-final @ full-time and thats it for Rugby League media for me for a while.. the damage the result has done to the NRL is significant imo.. the richest club with their 14 rep stars winning over the 2025 spooners with 2 suspensions and numerous injuries.. it would have generated months of incredible media if the Knights could have pulled off the miracle... and they went close the buggers.

I wasn't alone, the post-match viewing figures after the g/f told the story.... there is no joy or even interest in a squad like the roosters winning..

Their mockery of the cap is so obviously most fans are justified in hating them.

unfortunately Rev thats what the NRL have created, they seriously need to look at a draft system to stop these Rorters.

I agree mate but unfortunately those days are gone, especially with the money that gets thrown around. Playing fair nowadays gets you nowhere.
Nah cant was a huge problem … the defence can move the moment the ball is behind the bloke playing it … cant was inexperienced/slow getting the ball and passing it … the roosters appeared offside because people think they can’t move until the DH picks the ball up - that’s not the case …

Crossland plays and it’s a different game

Yes. His defence was certainly missed.

The memorable exchange on NRL 360 or another of them with Gordon Tallis and Brian Fletcher sums up the situation.

Tallis asked how the Rorters can afford to recruit Spencer Leniu with an already star-studded team.
Brian Fletcher said live on TV: "Gordie, stop talking about it. The players don't like it."
So Tallis shut his mouth and that was that.

It might help the stop the Rorters, rorting the cap to some extent but would it be good for the Dragons long term? My old friend Frank Facer Frank Facer (who wasn't banned or even suspended) might disagree but the Gong is a pretty nice place. The second or third tier players can by a house near the sea which only 1st tier players in Sydney can afford. And even if they want to live in Sydney, the commute isn't hard.

With the COE and good systems in place to bring in some of the best junior talent along with not losing the best local talent, I think we will become an attractive club.

There are two possibilities here
1. The Roosters deliberately cheat, the NRL know but dont give a shit or
2. The NRL have establised a complicated yet permissive system of cap and TPA that successful clubs can manipulate work within and thrive

Personally, i think it is the latter, all this fist waving at the roosters is simply the same as people whinging about their neighbours being successful/better/richer without the self reflection to try themselves to be successful/better/richer.

Have been saying it a little bit now - there are rules to operate outside the cap, we finally have started trying to play in that space and have had some success at it. Keeping the forwards plus recruiting in 6 of the best available free agents suggests something has changed.

Dont hate the cocks because they know what they are doing, learn instead how to do it to. The game isnt won inside the cap, it is won outside it.

Or a 3rd option. The NRL and everyone else knows they are cheating but can't prove it.

Someone like Warea-Hargreaves who can barely string a sentence together getting a job at Fox tells you all you need to know

It's both. They have a wink and nod agreement that players who remain loyal to them will get fixed up after they retire. Braith Anasta said so on TV.

The Jewish mafia can say whatever players have going on after they retire is none of the NRL's business. If the NRL pushes, they can deny everything and say Briath Anasta had better show proof or he's getting sued. If it isn't written down anywhere.........

Well sorry if you don't like it but I'm going to go ahead and hate them. I have every belief the Dragons can do it like Penrith have done it. That is by not cheating and not being involved in any of the little scams and tricks the wretched slugs use in order to rig the competition.

The Roosters won the 2026 Grand Final. They might have some shonky deals with a few of the players which cannot be proven but they won it. In the end, it was just by 1 point. If those shonky players were not signed would the result been different or should I say that maybe the club not make the GF at all? Who knows?
The Knights were a bit unlucky. They put in but not good enough but they could have won and if they did we wouldn't be talking about rorting.
I haven't read any Knights Forum comments - maybe there have been some people raising the same issues.
To me, players that are good enough and if available would be happy to play for a club like the Roosters. I am sure that there are many hoping that they can. Morris, Cronk, DCE, Garrick for instance mostly older but very experienced were signed but I don't think on too much coin. They wanted and want to win a GF. Cody Ramsey would be rapt that the Roosters identified him with having ability to play well and is there on not much coin. In 2028, Farnworth will be a Rooster - that's how they plan and players gravitate to the chance of being a Rooster to end up with a GF ring.
It is just a well run club with no one bitching.

True that it's all hypothetical now.

Remember they signed that Tigers prop, May, for 3 years and then only a month or 2 later released him. They should've been paying 100% of that salary until I think now. Until November 1 this year. Only they can screw up like that, like we have with Gutho and Kyle, but brush it off as though there is no issue.

Are they still paying at least a significant amount of Brandon Smiths salary also until November 1 this year? It's not that "well run" IMO. They screw up just like every other club. It's just for some "magical reason" their screw ups never affect their salary cap in any seriously adverse way.

This allows them to be able to take a chance with players like Ramsey. If it doesn't work out, they shrug their shoulders and move on without any serious adverse affect. Though yeah, we could have also afforded to take a chance with Ramsey. I can give the Rorters credit where due. It's just that in my opinion the shit they get away with far outweighs the good they do.

May/Smith needed to maintain their full amount - whoever picked them up pays an amount and then the roosters pay the balance.
The thing with Smith/May is that they are players other clubs wanted and would pay for so the delta the roosters may have needed to contibute may not have been large.

For us with Nuffo/Kyle - no one else would want them

Usually the player who is still in demand and getting part of his salary paid by another club are on very good money. So for example if May was on 800k at the Rorters, his manager would work out some kind of deal where Tigers pay 500k and Rorters pay 500k. So he's on a million until his Rorters contract runs out.
