Sydney Roosters stun Broncos to set up decider against St George Illawarra Dragons

The Roosters may be the first team to beat the Broncos in the NRLW finals, but they won’t start favourites in Sunday’s final at Redcliffe’s Moreton Daily Stadium. That honour will belong to St George Illawarra, who held off a late flurry from the Titans to claim a 24-18 win. The Red V have arguably been the form team of the competition under new coach Jamie Soward, and now have the chance to claim a maiden premiership.

“I expected to come in and make the finals as a minimum. To win this game today was a great result for the club,” Soward said.
“I feel like we’ve got another couple of gears, but we were probably just tight and frantic in that first half because of the situation of the game. That’s what a prelim final does for you.”
Madison Bartlett, Emma Tonegato, Jaime Chapman and Keeley Davis crossed for the Dragons, who have played a high octane, attack-first game to surge all the way to Sunday’s decider.

Our girls are really doing the club proud. Another outstanding display. The poor last play options aside. It was much closer than it should have been. They got a few completely unjustified square up penalties late and our girls put the cue in the rack.

As for the grand final, of course they will start favourites. When they played the Rorters two weeks ago, the score flattered the Rorters. Our girls had caught the Zac Lomax disease in trying to score off every play.

They have really lit up an otherwise miserable season so far.

Good luck to the women who hopefully can deliver a premiership to the club the first since 2010. Hopefully this will inspire the NRL and NSW Cup teams

Roosters star Sarah Togatuki cleared to play after high-tackle charge downgraded

The Sydney Roosters’ NRLW grand final hopes received a major boost at the judiciary after one of their star forwards was cleared to play in the title decider.

The Roosters have received a big boost before Sunday’s NRLW premiership decider with prop forward Sarah Togatuki cleared to play by the judiciary on Tuesday night. The 28-year-old faced a two-week ban for her careless high tackle on Bronco Lavinia Gould during their semi-final clash but successfully downgraded the penalty to a warning.

It was a nervous 48 hours for the NSW representative who risked being rubbed out of Sunday’s grand final against the Dragons.Represented by her lawyer James McLeod, Togatuki was able to downgrade her charge to a grade one, which resulted in a warning. It took the judiciary just over an hour of deliberation but cleared the forward to play in this weekend’s grand final at Redcliffe.

Of she was. We are talking Sydney Rorters here. Our good girls will beat them again regardless. This time more comfortably. And last time is was 4 tries to 2 though Rachael Pearson wasn't playing and as a result, never looked like kicking a goal.

Very strange and poor last tackle options ultimately cost us any chance. I dont know who cooked up the plan to continually run the ball on the last but it didn't work. It had to be the plan because nobody took the initiative after the first half failures, not easy being a coach I was lucky to learn from an old knockabout country coach who had the attitude of if plan A doesn't work go to Plan B then C its called contingency plans but alas another day another time.

I also though there was too much trying to go around them.
