Highlights of him playing both sides of the field, but mainly on the right, he naturally carries the ball in his left hand, so isn't able to palm off players, needs to learn to be able to carry in either hand, very raw but heaps of potential.
So for those in QLD, is the Ipswich area equivalent to Western Sydney, big growth area, slightly cheaper to live in, we obviously have a good relationship with Ipswich High as we have signed up a lot of kids from there the last few years, which is great.
What is the closest NRL side to that area?
Is that the area they call the Western Corridor?

Think the management company who pick up a lot of players in that Ipswich region are rogerssportsmanagement, we must have some sort of agreement for taking some of those players on in the St George pathways.

Glad we have that agreement, Ipswich High school are now one of the best performing rugby league schools in the country and have had a number of players make the QLD schoolboys team lately

I live like 20mins from Ipswich, it's a bit lower in the socio-economic stakes, it's sort of on the cusp of being rural, but Brisbane is much smaller than Sydney.. Bit rougher I'm told in schools, they play a lot of footy. It's rly only 30-40mins from the CBD though..

The area they sometimes talk about is south-west from Brisbane, Springfield and beyond, that area has really exploded with new housing developments, that's where I think the afl r trying to get their hooks in.. And we don't rly have a presence.

I rly hate that we can't have more nrl teams up here..the kids r here and like league.....but we can't really add another 5 qld teams.. Too much expansion.

I think end goal (10-20years) for NRL is close to 24 teams play each other once then semis that makes the season 28 weeks, you could have standalone SOO/Rep weeks or give teams bye's during the season
With PNG and WA coming in, i would add another NZ team, South Australia and that gives you possibly 3 teams in QLD, as i said this is all down the track, especially the South Australia Serial Killers Team...

Not to put too much pressure on this Steelers SG squad.. but returning players like Treweek, Meafou, Borg, Buchanan, Kirk, Weatherall, many of those are from Flegg or in 1st grade preseason-training.. plus Phillips & Saifiti^2 joining.. that side is stacked..... and the expectation on Kade Reed will be very high..... he should be far too good for this level of competition.. really hoping he shows how much he has learnt in 12 months... and show hes the young 7 to pursue..

Not sure on the HM side, I dont follow it that closely.. my brain is essentially at capacity tracking 2xSG, JF, Cup & 1sts during that first part of the season.. I dont know how Justamug somehow remembers the names of players and siblings across every junior league we have...

Treweek turns 20 this year so he’s ineligible for SG ball and Daniel Meafou did his ACL earlier this year so I’m unsure if he’ll be back in time for the SG ball season.

Fully agree with your points about the other boys, their is so much strike and there are always 1-2 unheard of guys that jump out of the ground and really excel after a big preseason so I’m keen to see them play.
There were a fair few u15’s boys that were apart of the NSWCHS team that won the schoolboy championships Oliver burton, Noah Fitzgerald, Asher Chapman

Yeah fair, if Meafou isnt back fit & running its a huge blow.. hes going to be needed to lead that young pack..

Treweek I didnt realise, tbh I was surprised to see him in pre-training when he didnt even play Flegg last year, but I guess they had him on ice waiting to move NickT out.. perhaps Halangahu/Treweek are the new Flegg 2nd row combination.. and CST plays 'somewhere else'.. hes pretty versatile.

Some talented kids like Phoenix Johns,Mason Andrews and Cooper Morrison in the HM side as well so they’ll give the comp a good shake

CST is quality, I hope they just give him reps in the forwards tbh, hated seeing him play centre in flegg last year

Yeah Agree, I mean it was good experience though to play a flegg season a year early, but this year he should probably play 2nd row or in the middle.

Halangahu tbf might force his way into cup anyway.. but Nick and Egan are there.. Stewart I felt was more likely to start @ 2nd row too... in the end I dunno.. its a jigsaw puzzle that does my head in.. but whats good is that we have options.. thats the best case scenario..

The bit i like about that, even though he is like 20 odd meters away he never gave up, there was plenty of defence in and around that player, where he could have thought that no need to chase he will be picked up, but he put his head down and chased and got him at the end, he had the option to let someone else deal with it but he didnt take that option..

A lot will depend on Timmins, if he stays out of Norries way and let's him run the show they boys will have a better chance.

All these good young players! Can't keep track of them all. Is this normal or has the club gone all in recruiting as many juniors as possible to compliment an even more promising batch of local juniors?
