oh crap I knew I had forgotten someone.. there is the Jersey Flegg 6 for sure.. super excited to see him also.
Unfortunately we won't see much of Shadi till late in the season.

Hopefully he continually puts on weight for the rest of the year and comes back at a good weight next year.
A shame but FFS, I wish he would concentrate on his health rather than playing for the Dragons. Everyone admires his determination but wants him to recover fully before he thinks about football.Unfortunately that's not going to happen. I think he will struggle to play regularly, his health can and does drop suddenly.
I think playing for the Dragons was the motivation/purpose he needed to keep going during his recovery, I think he at least partially ticked that box today.. it wasnt NRL.. but he had people cheering his every touch..., and his kids were there on the field after the game..A shame but FFS, I wish he would concentrate on his health rather than playing for the Dragons. Fair enough. Good point.I think playing for the Dragons was the motivation/purpose he needed to keep going during his recovery, I think he at least partially ticked that box today.. it wasnt NRL.. but he had people cheering his every touch..., and his kids were there on the field after the game..
Pretty impressive I thought after so long out, he moved the same as before he got sick.. but a few pieces missing.... he is probably going to have to be happy with something a few notches below first grade... perhaps still involved with the club too..
Talent Talent Talent, we got 2nd rowers growing on tree's currently, will be a challenge to keep them all and a bigger challenge to keep the right ones as well. Good to hear about Amone and Ollie ( i carried the ball in my left as well with a right arm fendWatched the highlights of the Steelers Matt’s game again, what stood out to me was Amone’s ball playing + PCM and Ollie Burton’s a left arm carry right arm fend (that’s pretty rare)
So many guys that could have a big future in that team, hopefully they can keep at least the blue chip talent (Meafou/Amone/Burton)
What happened to Hammoud? There is strength in pockets all over the place, but its also spread out, and thats sort of the double-edged sword of having 2 feeder teams.. twice as many players to blood, but the talent is hence diluted which can make winning more challenging.. but.. its a great way to have unearth perhaps 50-100% extra talent.. and that should lead to a stronger Flegg side.. which is why I was looking at that lineup yesterday and was a bit shocked as I thought our Flegg side would be a world beater this year (after having 2 killer SG sides in 2024)... but I dont think it is at all.. Hammoud being out on its own is huge... he was the captain/half potentially to guide them through to when Reed joined him... but now its 2 fringe halves.... plus 3-4 players are playing up in nsw cup (fair enough obviously) names like LKT, Tonga & Latu in particular.. plus there are plenty playing down for their 2nd year in SG..
A lot will come back to injury, were still yet to see 2 of our best forward prospects in that age range (DMeafou and Weatherall) even take the field.. and throw in CST... they should all be playing Flegg in the back half of the season.. Halangahu potentially as well.. not sure what they will do with him yet.. Nick and Egan surely r the cup 2nd rowers.. but I know they are trying to fast-track Jacob.. lets see how he goes tonight.
Oh and my thoughts on Cody Ramsey today... noting that the footage was very hard to watch (Genuinely from the grandstand):
- Cody came on at halftime at fullback and played 30 minutes.. took his first bomb and got plenty of cheers.. lots of slashing runs and was almost hyperactive when we were attacking.... he was floating left and right trying to look for opportunities.. still has speed and footwork.. lethal.. but.. just hasnt got the weight he used too.. so if anyone can get a hand on him hes easy to bring down (a lot like dufty).. and being so light would make it a real challenge for him to bring a big strong ball carrier down.. that said he doesnt lack for courage.
- Not sure where Cody will play this year, im sure he could make a crack of NSW Cup, but I think Rumble or Sloan are the first choice Fullbacks... cant see him playing wing either with all the guys we have.. unless we have a lot of injuries... Ctr maybe.. but hes very light. Suspect he will probably play a lower grade... and have to wait for opportunity.
Unfortunately that's not going to happen. I think he will struggle to play regularly, his health can and does drop suddenly.
I see what you mean. He has to put on a lot of weight to make it back to the NRL. But I hope he can remain in the Cup team for the year and then asses it at the end of the year. I hope the club can continue to support him. Not only for his well-being but I think it puts the club is a good light to potential recruits and sponsors.A shame but FFS, I wish he would concentrate on his health rather than playing for the Dragons. Good position to be in, in recent years we have appeared to have readjusted our juniors and pathways mentality and are now paying the necessary attention in this area.Talent Talent Talent, we got 2nd rowers growing on tree's currently, will be a challenge to keep them all and a bigger challenge to keep the right ones as well. Try coming up with the potential pack in the next 3-5 years, you could literally get 2 -3 good packs with all the players we have currently, yes i know we will lose some and some wont make it, but still, lots of talent in the forwards..
The big red V. I ask, who wouldn't want to be wearing that jersey.? I wish the kid well but the rigours of 1st grade footy and a compromised body can be telling and sometimes become deadly. So kudos to the kid for living his dream but family and personal welfare must always come 1st.I see what you mean. He has to put on a lot of weight to make it back to the NRL. Is that Zac Lomax in the background? He was always a good club-man. I hope he goes well at Parra. Except in games against us.
Not the worst thing still winning most games without some of the big names. When or if they are all back on deck..... should be good.So just checking team lists, few changes for the Steelers SG team:
- Langdon in but Taufa out (Taufa out is a big one, hes their big middle)
- No DMeafou (this was the week he was aiming for).. still no Weatherall either
- Poor old Tomo still 18th man.. but tbf where do you fit him.
- Not sure who could come in for Kade Reed if he does end up in the Charity Shield
