Junior Reps 2025

I think Heidke is a lot closer to Buchanan than most think.
Id love to see where they’re both at this time next year. I get real Kotoni Staggs vibes about Heidke
So one way or another our future at the moment looks bright. I believe though Buchanan burns Heidke speed wise. To me speed in the backline is an important asset

Heidke has some real class in him.. hes like a surgeon.... but... he needs to stay uninjured... Timmo hasnt got the same class, but the boy is tough as bluddy nails.. I think they are both potential prospects (maybe a little Cooper/Gasnier in them).. but Buchanan has a big head start.. anyway really keen to see if the SG kids step up into Flegg well.. it is a big step up..

And with NSW Cup.. I was going to say that I didnt think Buchanan would be dropped out of that team this year.. but I guess Allan/Lawson are important for 1st grade depth.. so its possible.. Im just not sure really whether Allan/Lawson are just playing centre because we desperately need depth vs its their best position.

At some point this year though, maybe Buchanan gets a dev contract upgrade and goes past Allan who is probably retiring in a few months.. put the development into a young one instead who is handling it ok so far.

I hope you are right. I saw him play State U19 last year alongside the Casey brothers ( Panthers) in that backline and he impressed me, Tonga also impressed me. He is also a Australian schoolboy so the ability is there. I thought if we can allow these kids time to develop we are looking good for 26/27 seasons.

I thought toward the end of last year, when Buchanan played NSW Cup, he didn't let anyone down. I was surprised he wasn't starting this year in NSW Cup. I'm not sure what is going on with Lawson and Allan next round but if Buchanan is selected in Cup again next round and plays like last week, it's going to be very hard to drop him back to Flegg.

If Buchanan plays like that again, the best option might be to try and ship Allan off to the ESL and open up another top 30 spot. Promote Lawson to top 30 and Buchanan to development contract. I wouldn't write off Ben Rumble just yet either. He's not the fastest or the strongest winger or outside back but has a habit of breaking tackles. Good ball skills as well. Might make an excellent centre.

No chance, the talk is that QLD Have now formed an under 21’s comp so their players have a pathway rather than having to come to Sydney to further their careers.

They won’t have a national comp, jersey flegg has enough teams to carry the u21’s competition in NSW

When you say QLD, do you mean the 4 NRL clubs or the local teams like Wynnum Manly etc?

Qlldrl had a under 21s comp, Ikin cancelled it last year as part of cost saving. He has recently backed plans for a National comp.
I've not heard anything about a new Qld 21 comp.

When is the national comp coming in? And are they looking at changing Matts SGBall and JF

I worked out that BarTV has just changed so the site uses your local time instead of a default Sydney Time.. thats why all my times are out by an hour.. Steelers Harold Matts starts in 35 minutes (12.30 QLD, 1.30 NSW), SG Ball (2PM QLD, 3PM NSW).

Noting the lack of Polynesians in the Steelers Matts 17. Two forwards only, Creighton Meafou and Hal Amone.

Steelers should walk this in, #1 plays #10.
