They can definitely challenge in the finals. You have to remember that they have only played good teams. Its an uneven competition and they haven't had the benefit of playing any easy teams.

He did not play in the halves last week. Last week Lewis (left) and Fitzgerald (right) were halves, while Couchman played lock from off the bench.

They could do Chapman for 20mins at hooker, but Chase has been good @14 also, I reckon they will strengthen us with Chapman @13 or @7, may aswell field our best players out there... the halves currently r putting us under a lot of pressure.. Chapman seems good wherever he plays and has played halves before.
Fitzgerald is the best 7 (if his defence can hold up). Chapman is the best 9. Also, Chapman at 9 improves our middle defence.

Just catching the end of the SG Ball game.. was just about to post how we'd won 4 from 4 today... but we've given up the lead with 3mins to go which sux.. but forced an error with 60 seconds left.. nrly got a try at the end... but sadly another loss for the brave SG Ball team.. season over esp against a weaker side like Wests.. I didn't catch the rest of the game though.

Just not enough quality in the side this year for Steelers in comparison to previous seasons
It’s been spoken about already but I’d LOVE for them to just combine the 2 pathways sides like Flegg do and have 1 genuinely great team every year.
I’m sure the scouts/staff would rather watch 1 game rather than 2 especially so they can miss ST George getting spanked by 40 every week in Matt’s and ball

Ive been wanting the sides to merged for years also.. I do understand the counter-argument(s), but I dont think it gives the kids the best experience to be outgunned for up to 4yrs in their development.. probably doesnt help us recruit the best kids, or extend their contracts (Ah Kee says hi).
I would also like 'the best coach' to be working with them... and yes selfishly I would rly like 2 less games to watch..
But the Roosters just went and added a 2nd team themselves.. all be it they have literal bottomless pockets.

Roosters sort of do just merge them in the end unofficially. They have taken the central coasts best players like the Fesolai bro’s and Carter Mareko and plopped them straight into the Sydney roosters SG ball team instead

see that would be perfectly fine.. 1 gun side 1 feeder side.. problem is our feeder squad has to be the steelers which is sort of a bottomless pit of decent young players... but thats most of our talent atm.. maybe we could play 'StGeorge Illawarra Dragons' + 'Steelers' but stack the first side.. I dunno..
Roosters CC struggling hard atm but assume in time it probably gets stronger.. but will never be dominant if they keep taking the best kids out.

Honestly Burto hasnt really had the highlight reel moments like last year.... long range line breaks etc.. but I'll be interested to see the video, as it might show that hes a consistent 7 or 8 out of 10 every week that go unnoticed.
Never lower than an 8. His workrate and his defence are constantly there.

Your right in terms of the long range tries aren’t there like last year but his all round game is still elite
He’s one of those guys that if you look at stats only you wouldn’t be ‘blown away’ but on the eye test he passes with flying colors
There’s a lot of last ditch tackles he makes that most other fullbacks become speed bumps or show a huge lack of effort (Sloan)

oh yaa I realise I didnt articulate myself well before.. i.e. im a big fan too... hes still one of the best 3 or 4 players every game.. try savers, effort plays.. hes a gun.. but I remember last year I was sending some of those long range tries off to friends to look at, think there was 2 HM games he won single-handedly with a huge offensive play... I cant recall any of those so far this year, but hes probably saved a few with try savers, even today he saved 1 in a tight game.....
In terms of line breaks... maybe just too small a sample size and good defensive sides.. who knows... he definitely threatens to break the line regularly though, but they tend to have 3-4 blokes swamp him.
