Kyle Flanagan & the coach

Even if it’s how they feel internally, that they aren’t a contender and don’t have the cattle, it is never something a first grade coach should publicly say before a ball is even kicked. Does nothing for team morale and is a culture killer. Not a way to get a playing group to play for you
Does the truth hurt?

I don't expect us to make the top 8 this year. I am a bit more hopeful about next year.

The bookies have us favourite or second favourite for the spoon. What do you think that does for team morale and do you think it is a culture killer.

I have said, put things into perspective and be realistic.

What am I basing my expectations on? My expectation that the coach should have a struggling team improve quite a lot after 2 years or be under a lot of pressure to keep his job?
Do you think West Ham, or Everton or Leeds coaches should have them improve and making the Champions league in a the next few years and if not, will it be their fault or will it be a case of they are coaching teams who don't make the Champions league, no matter who their coaches are?

Do you think the coaches of those teams should have high expectations and if not are they doing nothing for team moral and culture killers.

Our team moral was shot to bits before Flanno took over and we have not had a winning culture since Bennett signed with Newcastle, mid season.

I don't follow soccer. Though I remember reading how the lack of a salary cap has made the competition a bit of a farce. It's a competition between 3~5 clubs. The rest are just making up the numbers.

You don't have to follow soccer. I don't either, but I know that if one isn't coaching the likes of Man United, Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea or to a lesser extent Tottenham, they are not going to have any success, winning the Premier League or play Champions League. Some may get to play Champions League once in a blue moon. It is an analogy.

It is the same in the Spanish League, It is either Real Madrid or Barcelona who win their league every year. Maybe Athletico Madrid wins a comp once in a blue moon. In Italy, Juventus, AC Milan or Inter Milan win the comp there. In Germany, Bayen Munich usually win the comp, with another one or 2 such as Borussia Dortmund winning it here and there.

The salary cap in the NRL is a farce as well.
But much better than not having one at all. As the English soccer competition proves. Even the Shonkies have been doing ok over the past several years. So obviously the salary cap isn't useless. BTW how'd your big brain go working out my math problem?

Because you were the one banging on about show smart and knowledgeable about the game you were. A good chance to put that to the test. BTW did you work out my math problem?

BTW I suck at tipping but I'd don't run around boasting about how I'm smarter and more knowledgable about the game than everyone else.
I used to go in tipping comps at the TAB and Pub every year, but haven't done so for many years. I usually finished high up on the ladder and even won some or was placed, but I didn't like the bonus points for getting every tip correct of the round. I thought who ever tipped the most winners throughout the year, should have one the tipping comp, not who tipped the most perfect rounds.

As for tipping 1 to 12 or 13 plus I can't be bothered with that. It amuses me that some would even care about if I join the tipping comp on this, but not care about anyone else joining. lol Am I really that significant to people on this site? lol I didn't even think I was that significant to others on this site. lol

Your self-proclaimed big brain is of interest to me. So yes. How did you go with my math problem for the 5th time? If you aren't smart enough to work it out, that's ok. Just say it.

Its exactly the same here in the NRL the big teams cherrypick the lesser ones, that's why a small club like Leicester winning was a fairytale in the Premier league, but look at them now. The money needs to keep on coming and the Dragons do not have the investors or willing participants to get behind this once big club.......It can turn around, look at the Bulldogs. We have a go getter in our CEO and Daniel Anderson knows how the Roosters operated, it maybe turning. The Centre of Excellence is near.
But we desperately need a Laundy type messiah to financially oversee our hopes and dreams going forward.

Penrith had been fringe top 8 at best for a long time 6 years ago.

They were, but Gus Gould involvement and pathway planning changed their fortunes as he is doing at the Bulldogs. Its a shame his 5 minute end of year assessment did not continue into a full time position with us, he loved the Dragons as a kid.
