Kyle Flanagan & the coach

There was the one game early in the season. Might have been against Gold Coast. I can't remember now. But the forwards were clearly ascendant. From memory 3 or 4 of them ran for over 100m. Kyle had a really good game. Best I've seen him play. Think he had 3 try assists. Ilias was ordinary even in that game.

If Kyle is picked, I'm sure he will have to play well or he will get dropped. IMO people are worrying about it too much. I honestly don't think Flanno favoured him last season. It's just we didn't have anyone else. It seems almost everyone agrees he is and last season was better than Ilias. Glover was better in attack than both of them but I can't even imagine him in the NRL with THAT defence. He makes Sloan's defence look like JDBs. So unless Flanno was going to play JDB at halfback, he was out of options.

And as for giving LKT a bit of rev in public, he was right to do that. He expects more from LKT. As for Kyle, he knows he's playing to the best of his ability. Why give him a rev?

JDB...... feels weird knowing I won't be talking about his game or other issues next season. Pretty sure I remember his debut. He came off the bench against Newcastle and I was saying then he was a gun forward.

Sorry but try as I might, I can't let this BS go. If KF hasn't gotten favourable treatment:

• Why does Flanno only bag dudes who are competing with KF for a spot?
• You said yourself at the top of this thread, why did Flanno say a few times KF is one of our best, which is laughable?
• As Morgan said above, if he has the excuse of the forwards not giving him any space, why didn't Ilias and why doesn't LKT have the same excuse?

And even by very generous try assist standards, I doubt KF had 3 in a full game. Last year he only had about 7 for a whole year minus the 3 games he was suspended for biting.

Unfortunately, I think this right. At least to start the year. If after 6 rounds we are at or close to the bottom of the ladder, there might be changes in the spine including Kyle. If LKT is playing well in reserve grade. If we are around the middle of the table, will have to wait until after Origin. If we are near the top of the table after 6 rounds, only injury will prevent Kyle being in the halves all year.

If we are down the bottom of the table after 6 rounds I think the coach might want to start getting comfortable being uncomfortable !!!

Imagine the egg most of you have on your faces if the forward pack performs and as a result our side wins the first few games.

If LKT or Kade Reed play very well they will be selected.

Our CEO stated clearly that KF was signed as a 14.

I would love to know whether SF sees LKT as a 7 or a 6.

If so, KF may start the season at 7. Otherwise LKT starts at 7 and KF helps develop Kade Reed in KOE Cup.

OK I just have one basic question here,,,,,,,, who selects the team,,,,,,,my thoughts are Flanno Ennis and Young, does Watsford or DA have any say ? If not then we all know the answer in who the halves will be , dont we.

I don't think Reed can play in early part of the season. He's not top 30 until 2027.

Dont know mate, if he is playing in KOE can he play after a certain number of rounds ?

I don't think Watsford and DA have any say in the picking of the team but they have a say in who the coach is. Let's just wait and see. I believe Atkinson and LKT will get first crack. If they don't, the pressure is going to on both Flanno and Kyle in a really big way. I don't think it will do anyone any good. Not Kyle, Not LKT, not Flanno. Best for Kyle to kill it NSW Cup and demand a recall if LKT and Atkinson falter.

All I'm saying is that last season, I understand Flanno sticking with Kyle. I don't think it was favourable treatment due to reasons I already stated. If Kyle does start and the results aren't good, I have little doubt at all LKT will be recalled to take his place soon.

I have a feeling this isn't going to stop until the first round team is announced. Then it will go on still more if he isn't in the team and they are going poorly or if he is in the team and they are going poorly. So that would mean the only way to stop the constant speculation is to win a lot more games.

Brave is one way to say it. I'd say something different, like delusional. Like if he was the only option, whose fault was that? Who got rid of Bud Sullivan knowing Amone was likely to be in jail or at best, not allowed to play? Not even saying he is better but would have been an option.

I also think Sulivan had a chip on his shoulder and thought he was way better than what he really was, still our pathways and management were a complete mess, I'm hoping things have turned for the better now.
