Kyle Flanagan & the coach

There's talk of players 18,19, 20 being too young its absolute rubbish.

There are 18 year old superstars in all sports all over the world.

I played in good Men's Sunday Football league(Soccer) in England at age 14, yes they were more physical but I loved showing the other players and the crowd I was good, it lifts you beyond anything else.
Sorry if it sounds like bragging, but it's a point to prove. Have a look at the Premier league in England and Europe and their ages.

So drop Kyle and install Kade Reed at 7 with Atko at 6, take the punt Dragons. I almost guarantee he will change the team for the better.
Yes, this has to be at least given a good go even though Reed just turned 19 in Feb this year, he has great ability and enterprise far better than Kyle/Atkinson in the 7 jersey. Reed to 7 and Atkinson to be in his preferred position of 5/8th.

It's about the long term. You know if Reed is promoted now, he'll be relentlessly targeted for second rowers, props and big centres to run at all game, over and over. Give him some time to prove himself in reserve grade.

Dropping Kyle is a no-brainer. Get JDB back from Parra to play 5/8 would be better than Kyle. But Reed isn't the answer just yet.

I know there is this general feeling that halfback and 5/8 are interchangeable words and related to what side of the paddock they plonk themselves on ...
But it is still a lot more than that ... Esp relating to the forward play in the middle third.

Hughes/Munster is so obvious in the actual roles they play and the types of touches they get.

We are full of players closer to being 5/8s than halfbacks ... thinking we can replace kyle at 6 with another 6 and see sudden improvement fails to address the biggest flaw we have had for years ... that game managing halfback ... Noel/Matt Head even Hornby for his lack of vision and ability to play what was in front of him knew plenty about getting the ball into the hands of the right people.

Atkinson may want to be that man but he isnt ... This crap from Riccio about Atkinson wanting to be a fulltime half, i expect that is more likely wanting to be a full time NRL player in the halves (not necessarily halfback though) ... he has enough skills in some areas of his game to be effective if partnered with a manager. He currently isnt.

Reed looks so promising for us - just getting him there is going to take time that is going to hurt waiting through.

Well for us looking at options as to who could replace Flanno, there is now 1 less available and he is Willie Peters. Looks very likely to be the first Head Coach of the PNG Chiefs starting in 2028.

Halfback and 5/8 are different positions. To me a halfback should run the show, be the dominate playmaker, unless he has a 5/8 such as Wally Lewis beside him. Dylan Brown is a good example of a 5/8 who isn't a halfback, even though he has played there quite a bit over the last 2 years or so.

There are many including myself who think Acko is more suited to 5/8 than halfback. So I agree with you. Some players can play both positions. Andrew Johns was an out and out halfback. Thurston could play both, but was probably more suited to halfback. Adam Reynolds is an out and out halfback and not a 5/8. Dearden can play both. Tanah Boyd looks like a halfback, not a 5/8. Fletcher Sharp can play 5/8, but isn't a halfback. Doueihi can play both. Luai didn't go well playing halfback for Wests last year and is better suited to 5/8. Munster definitely isn't a halfback, while Hughes could probably play 5/8 very well, next to an organising halfback. Campbell can play both. I think he is more suited to 5/8. Strange isn't a halfback.

If anyone is watching the Tigers v Warriors game. That last try by Bula happens only because you have a running halve. You must have 1 of your halves willing to take the line on. A big upset is on the cards now
Kyle Flanagan has no running game, no playmaking, no kicking game, no organisational skill. But he tries really hard and that is enough according to our esteemed coach.

Good defender but that's about it. Manly have sacked Seibold out of the blue. Not saying that is on the cards here but results on the field counts for a great deal as a 1sts coach.

He is not a good defender. As far as halves go, Munster and Cleary are good defenders. KF's defence is not too bad but being not too bad compared to the other areas of his game makes it look like JDB's defence.

Kyle is elite at chasing kicks.

If Flanno is sacked, which to me seems inevitable barring an unlikely, massive form reversal, I wonder if Seibold would make a decent assistant. I've heard he's a little bit too proud of some kind of graduate degree, but if he's firmly put in his place by a firm head coach like Brad Arthur, failed head coaches seem to have a lot of success as assistants.

Dear Timmy,

Are you happy to sit around doing nothing and risk losing the only positive we have going at the moment, a crop of generational talent coming through the junior grades together.

We have already lost Finau Latu, chat of Loko following and now Halangahu's dad getting on socials telling the coach not to pick his son in that rabble.

Flick Flano or lose our future ... the choice is that simple.

k thx bye

I wonder what the conversations between Anderson (an experienced coach) and Watsford are like.. I would be shocked if Flannos recruitment decisions havent been an ongoing topic of disgust since Anderson started... we've been heading down a 1-way path, it must drive Anderson mad after he puts all the effort in to get young energetic players for us but Flanno is happy to go another year with Kyle, CT etc..

I hope so anyway.. I hope that we are already down the path of looking at potentials.. but tbh the guys I liked were Holbrook, Hannay and Peters.. all gone now.. I dunno who the right answer is from here.. but there must be some good eggs left on the market.

Predictably Flanno made the post match press conference all about Kyle. Not about how useless he is but how he's tough and called his mum and wife. This POS is still trying to hide himself and his useless son behind the skirts in the family. And no, I don't feel sorry for and am not concerned about his head knock one bit. He knows very well he has no business in first grade. Honestly, he's not good enough for NSW Cup.
