Kyle Flanagan & the coach

that wouldnt happen in any club ... recruitment manager/coach/ceo/coo would all work together ...
However, if things are obviously shit like with us then CEO has to stand up more ... so much chatter etc about higher profile/credentialed players being overlooked ..

Becomes the loudest voice shit with Anderson saying one thing and Flano the other ... ultimately results end with flano so that should be his undoing.

f*ck EM ALL ... seibold the flano.
I reckon Dan Anderson can be a great recruitment and retention manager for us if the coach much more often than not accepts his recommendations.

This is the post I needed to see.. still a narrative that Flanno is locked till 2027 or 2028.. just madness.. the run of losing is unprecedented.. its not like the last few coaches where they were jagging a win every few weeks to keep the pulse alive.

Not only that but Anderson must be in Tims ear about his unwillingness to accept some of the clearly better recruitment options we have passed on.
Don’t forget that Watford isn’t tied to Flanno, he didn’t hire him and there’s no deeply personal connection there

Not that the CEO is the sole person to hire coaches but they have a significant say

I’d be very interested to see his shortlist if I was a fly on the wall in his office

I do feel like Flanno was there when Tim arrived though, and has been side by side the whole time.. he was always part of the plan moving into 2027 etc.. but end of the day, a losing run like this is giving Tim (or the board, whoever's call it is) no real choice.

The players are really trying hard too (or they were), which to me is just further evidence that Flannos approach to footy isnt valid.. even when we out-enthuse teams, we still lose.

I imagine we will get a huge boost from our first week at the COE too.. which cows r gonna show up might be the question.

How does it work? Anderson makes recommendations and Flanno accepts or rejects those recommendations? If that's the case, Watsford should've already told Flanno something like, 'You need to coach the team Dan assembles for you. That's it! Don't like it? There's the door.' Then he could have softened it by telling Flanno the truth that it's for his own good.
I think it was when Mary was here we got to the point that the coach had no say in recruitment anymore.. the club does this to stop poor short-sighted signings by a coach that is struggling to keep his job (i.e. prevent the coach from making decisions that will damage the club ongoing)... but by the time you are doing something like this to your coach... I mean you may as well sack them.. its not working.

In Flannos case he is just has very black and white with what he wants... which is large-bodied, veteran-first players... something that seemingly worked for him in the old days.. but doesnt work anymore.. he doesnt seem to be evolving at all.. if anything hes doubling-down out of stubborness, to be fair.. its all he knows.

First priority. Anyone that is not Flanno will do. My problem with him is not that he is not making us good. It's worse than that: he is making us bad.

My preference would be for a first time head coach. Preferably an assistant from a good program such as Wallace at Penrith. But there is bound to be a good young assistant that I don't even know about. We don't need a miracle worker. Just someone who is humble, honest with the players, works hard, takes accounatability, and doesn't look for short cuts.
And can develop our juniors

I think my preference is a first time head coach as well, because there’s always the unknown if it starts off a bit poor you can expect gradual improvement in the second season and they get a grace period.

With an experienced coach like Arthur (who I like btw) there’s always this thing in the back of your head thinking that if it goes bad ‘we’ve seen this before and it won’t get better to we should sack him’

That’s just my take on it anyway
Arthur would be my preference now

I thought it was the right call at the time.. more specifically the only call.. we couldn't go into the recruitment season (with Ando at the helm) with no coach in place for 2027.. however I would hope that the extension dollars are tied to results.. as such the pay-out wont be all that much. I hope that is the case.
Extending a coach is obviously about much more than just the results at that time. Obviously potential recruits want to know who the coach is going to be. I'm sure there is much more as well.
