It is one of the less informed posts i have read in here for a long time

1. Gutherson has no demonstrated capacity to organise a teams attack, his role has always been chip in and augment - classic 5/8 stuff or fullback.
2. Hornby played halfback very early in his career, the myth that Bennett moved him there as some kind of coaching master stroke is history revisionism at its finest. Bennett started in 2009 ... Brown in the back half of 2005 had hornby at 7 with baz 6/ennis 9 and greenshields 1. He had played in the halves in first grade before he played fullback.
3. Atkinson is a 6 totally agree there ...

There are only two options for halfback in the club, ONeill or Reed .. that is it ... the flano effect on recruitment/retention has destroyed our halfback depth to that sad point. LKT/Atkinson are 6s ... Flano is a bench 14 at the very best and i wouldnt pick him in that role above Lidddle.

Moving Nuffo out of fullback to put sloan there is dumb as well ... the current myth that Sloan provides X-Factor is laughable - he doesnt ... perfect example is the warriours game where the actual x-factor player in Luc put sloan away to do nothing ... Sloan right now is a catch/put down try merchant or can run quickly in a straight line if someone puts him into space and no-defender is covering ...


We need to do three things
1. Sack flano, get him out of the way of Anderson doing his job
2. Retire Gutherson
3. Recruit 1/2 a spine and hope Reed comes in quickly and capably.

Problem is, Gutho is on a lot of money to be retired.

yes, that is the long term option, but in reality it ain't going to happen any time soon (if at all!). In the meantime we need to change things because it ain't working. We aren't going to buy a halfback with Reed in the wings, so why not give Gutho a shot there until he is ready. I actually agree about the issues with Sloan at the back but who else have we got? Do we even have another fullback at the club? Heaven forbid if Gutho gets injured.

Once again, he didn't have a great game but wasn't that bad either. But lets give him more than one chance. Something that Flanno has annoyed TF out of me with is the way this guy, obviously Kyle but a few others as well, can play any number of bad games and be safe but another player, Buchanan, Finau can play one semi bad game and get dropped.

Size is the issue for Buchanan for me

I have a funny feeling that we wont be getting off it in the next week or two Dave, and then the fun will begin because the so called easy draw that we had could possibly leave us at 0 - 6. Watsford better have Arthur's number on speed dial very soon.

You know back in the day my team was on a bad run . It got so bad that they didn't run out onto the field on game day just walked out with their heads looking everywhere except into the eyes of the opposition of the day.

I know you can't do this nowadays but on one cold winter training night when there were no other teams around I finally lost my marbles.

In the shed I whipped out 2 dozen ballerina tutus and told the boys to put them on for tonight's training session. I said " If you going to act and play like sheila's you may as well train and look like them".

We broke our 8 match losing streak the next week. Sometimes its just the mental side of the game that stops the lads performing to the best of their ability. There is a mindset, an attitude that they lose self belief and sometimes some type of drastic action needs to be taken. We finished the season in 2nd last placed that year.

The same group of players with a couple of additions made the semi finals the following season. As a reminder 1 tutu was left glued to a wall of the shed never to be worn again.
