Not Good News

I don't mean to take Griffin's side in this. I'm neutral. But in Griffin's defence, as last year progressed, it was pretty obvious Bird's time as an NRL centre was over except as a temporary injury replacement. The signing of Suli and rise of the Feagai's was the final nail in the coffin.
I know, and therein lies the issue, centres are point scorers and demand a higher salary than a 2nd rower he believes he is worth a lot more than the club believes and I really dont think it will be settled and if this is the case you throw in Sims saga the rest of the team especially those not on extended contracts then take a greater interest on how management are treating senior players instead of concentrating on themselves, their football, representing their club. Ive seen it all before and trust me when I say until its put to rest we will lose more than we win games unless action is taking.

Sounds like a mess but other clubs don't re-sign or push out club stalwarts and don't suffer as a result. Think Mitch Pearce at Sydney Rorters or Will Chambers at Melbourne. Each was pushed out after having played more for their club than Bird and Sims combined have played for the Dragons.

If this is the issue, the club can't back down. Maybe we are looking too much into it. It's still only round 5. Maybe it was just two bad games in a row. Far from unheard of.

Billy Burns is also off contract this year. Not on the injured list and not named in the NSW Cup team. I know he wasn't great last year but also not so bad. If he's not good enough to make that NSW Cup team, I'm Luke Bailey.

Well, the ball is in Bird's court. If he thinks he's worth more than the club is offering, he is welcome to take it elsewhere. Personally I think 510k is overs for him. Not "huge" overs like Corey Norman was on but I'd think he's worth about 450k a season.

Though I think, generally speaking, backrowers are on more than centres.

I know you've brought that up before. It's true. Cameron Munster is another not kicking stones despite not getting near what he wants from the only club he's ever played for. As opposed to Sims and Bird who are both on their third as far as I know.

That makes sense. The lunatics appear to have been running the asylum since Bennett left.

Billy Burns is a curious situation. He just came back from injury last week. Surely they wouldn't drop him again on form given the form of the team and fact he just got back from injury.
