Is TheRev TheRev no longer about? I miss his commentary on these games. It was pretty impressive of them to make it as close as it was until Warriors skipped away late. Halangahu, LPT and Liu have been among the teams best all season. Must have been missing Lawson as well. To not have him in first grade is whatever but in reserve grade he was really good.

Hey mate, yeah around but think im done for the year! I didnt really want to watch the game yesterday, all year when our forwards have been out its a real struggle for our backs to get the space to score points, and to somehow miss probably our 4 best (MMolo as well as the young 3) against a side this good means every odd was stacked against us..

Then Boyd dropping back after playing 9 or 10 games of 1st grade including a finals match... far out I thought we were a chance if it was the young inexperienced Cleary instead.. I knew Tanahs kicking would be too much for us, we needed Ilias and Glover to be on fire, but they never are unless the forwards are dominating.... and tbf we almost scored a few tries early but we couldnt execute.

Great year but yeah a bit sad, if Heidke had of stayed fit too.. hes such a point of difference in attack.. and losing Sele and Connor, I think Nick and RFM picked up injuries too, just was not meant to be.. but.. overall a pretty damn good year, probably the bright spot for us as a club, well that plus atleast we got lots of games into the young forwards like stewart, toby, jacob, tonga... lets hope we can stay fit and healthy next year, cant believe the run of injuries we have dealt with, we didnt get to see what either grade was capable of.

Thanks Rev. Any standouts for us?

Connor was a huge loss, IMO. With several forwards already out, we really needed Connor running around, tackling everything that moves in an opposition jersey.

But I want to echo several others and say there is a lot to be optimistic about. Not only the young players who already debuted this season and at least held their own but also Heidke, Williams, Hutchinson might or will probably get a chance in first grade next near, unless we have a very good run with injuries.

Lot of positive energy on this thread. It's good. I hope Sele didn't injure anything serious. Muhleisen as well. I just mean Sele in particular because he'll be needed for round 1 first grade next year.

I am amazed as to how often Sele ends up injured a lot of the time! Is his body not suitable for body clashes or does he need to be analysed on how he defends or attacks and practise better ways of executing both those tasks to avoid copping so many injuries in future? He is a goer, there is no doubt about that and if he can survive without getting injured that will help us in a big way.

Agree. He just can't go for a few games with picking up a minor injury keeping him out for 3 to 4 weeks. Comes back, plays 1 or 2 games then gets injured again. But he's on the books for next year. Very doubtful he'll get an extension so may as well hope can he play a few more games next year. No other clubs will pick up a significant part of his contract. But when he's not injured, he's a quality forward. Would make an excellent lock rotation with Stewart. Stewart playing about 50 and Sele 30. Or moving to prop for 10~15 along with 30 at lock. Though Stewart might be able to go longer than 50 minutes.

How good is the reserve grade team going to be next year if we can have a good run with injuries?!

I mean it's looking like the gap between reserve grade and first grade is going to be very close.

I don't think a small gap between the 2 is a good thing. Need to write off Flegg and stack reserve grade full of the best young players.
I don't know to be honest but I get the feeling they don't really care how successful any of the lower grades are. They only care about how many of them and how soon they are going to play NRL. A lower grade team with a number of future NRL players will likely be successful by default. And the club would prefer they be successful than not but it seems they won't hesitate in tearing apart the SG Ball teams to benefit Jersey Flegg and tear apart Jersey Flegg to benefit NSW Cup.

I think that is the problem

We need a few marquee signings to compete in the NRL

But the crop of young forwards is very impressive.

We need to discover the next Mark Gasnier !

Agree, but I would prefer players coming into their prime rather than the back end of their careers
No more back end of career players please. We have signed too many over the past x number of years and they just have not helped us at all and just made up the numbers and because they are newly signed, they tend to get selected even though not producing much at the expense of some budding junior who has more s(kills).
