Xerri a Stormer from 2027 for 3 years -

I'm surprised Bellamy wanted him but I guess he sees something in him I don't. If it means they are indeed getting rid of Howarth, he doesn't see something in Howarth I do. Of course he would know better than me but it might be something personal, not related to his performance on the field.

Howarth is an interesting one. Junior Kangaroo, junior Qld rep, fringe origin rep - would normally be a no brainer / great signing. But is he too big and not quite fast enough for centre in the modern game? Maybe that’s why the Storm are looking to replace him with Xerri.

Personally, I’d take Howarth over Xerri all day, every day.

I haven't timed them over 10 or 50 or 100m but he seems faster than Stephan Crighton for example. Most certres aren't really that quick. Don't need to be. It helps to be, no doubt about that but fast fullbacks and wingers are much more vital.

I think that used to be true, but it has changed with the current rules. If you look at the best centres in the game at the moment it is guys like Farnworth, Best, McLean and Koula - all of them fast laterally in defence and across the ground in attack. Even Crighton seemed off the pace in the 3rd origin game.

Howarth strikes me as more of a big bodied centre - a bit like Latrell. Not a bad thing by any means, but the game seems to be favouring smaller faster centres again. But Howarth is only 23 and has lots of potential. Some good coaching and some sprint training and he would be a good get I reckon.

So the WT have fallen off a cliff, I suppose thats what you get when you have a destabilizing half who is your marquee on a lot of money, not performing. wanting out and has already signed elsewhere. Oh well where have I heard that story before. Benji under the pump again, its starting to become a real unhappy place to be at.

Tigs falling in the trap of backing a dud coach for the appearance of ‘stability’ and ‘having a plan’

The only thing equally bad for clubs besides constantly hiring coaches is sticking with a dud one for multiple years too long
Too early to call him a dud coach. But if it turns out that is how he is, shows being an successful assistant before being a head coach is important. But as Steve Price proved, being a successful assistant doesn't mean one will be a successful head coach. It's a gamble anyway you look at it but from Dean Young's time as an interim head coach, it looks like he doesn't have what it takes.

I hope the struggle Benji is going through gives the Dragons pause, or further pause, in their plan to appoint Deano as head coach.

I keep hearing ‘it’s too early’ from tigers fans

If your a good coach it’s pretty obvious after 4 years in the job.

Their attack which is benji’s baby, that’s his thing. Is farken dreadful, they are legitimately the worst team to watch

They’ll blame injuries and he’ll get next season and when they inevitably miss their 8 and finish bottom 4 again like they will this year they’ll finally realise maybe Benji ain’t the guy

I'm not as critical on Benji, what they were doing early this year was great to watch.. and although Luai hasnt worked out (on field).. he has taken then from 3x spooners to a club with a fair bit of talent, and they managed to secure the Mays and Teruva and I assume the Fainu bros.. oh and Bula.. and Douieh and the rest.. I like what their squad.

No team stays on top, they all have bad periods and cop scrutiny.... obviously hope ur right though and Benji keeps struggling ;-)

Carayannis reporting their going to be covering about half the freight of Luai’s 1.2m salary next year

600k out of a roughly $12m cap gone before a ball is kicked….. yikes
its crazy how bad they want him out.. im imagining one of the young ones wants out bad.. maybe Latu or maybe that Andrews kid.. or maybe the mood is right off in camp.. but it seems like the deal must be done if tigers r announcing hes gone..

i like the Tigers , but they have had just as many issues as we have had. Poor coaches, dysfunctional boards etc. Now they are stuck with player destabilization, they cant get rid of Benji or half the team will walk. Forked out a lot of hooch for no result and another failed season. The only thing I like about us is we have banked on juniors to get us out of our mess, they gambled on imports.

Ramsey is the difference in the Rorters-Parra game. He's so much better than Gutho it's not even funny. Another Flanno recruitment and retention stroke of genius.

Flano was desperate for Lawson to work .. picked him when finau was available triggering his upgrade .. heard we tried to shift Lawson to keep Ramsey but couldn’t … in the wash we had spots for Ramsey too because we sucked at recruiting

Did we have the medicine to get Cody to where he is now though?
