Changing of the guard was a good idea. Australia are usually so much better than other teams, they can afford to keep the incumbents for a few years after they should have been sent packing. But it boggles the mind Tedesco and DCE were cut but not Hunt.

Hunt covers multiple positions while Teddy & DCE are both specialist players. Versatility is valuable in an end of season rep squad where players are carrying injuries or fatigued from a long finals series.

It's true. The only problem I have with it is that Hunt hasn't declared himself unavailable for rep football due to his need to concentrate on the Dragons at the twilight of his career.

To do it a year or two ago would have been about right and I think what other highly paid players in struggling teams have typically done. By now it's insulting.

But it's not really a bonus. Players want to get selected in these teams and want to play for teams where they are more likely to get selected.

That is same as a league scribe described him and I had a chuckle then too. To my knowledge Hunt has played two positions in his career, half and hooker and he only plays that three times a year and any international footy. Burton has the talent and versatility to play multiple positions. Meninga made a bad call on Hunt.
