Interesting call on Timmins, I quite liked him in SG Ball this year, but seemed a fair way behind Heidke, and probably behind Buchanan more because Hayden had a lot of first grade time.. but Timmins plays tough.. strong boy.. dev in 2029 is interesting.. but lets see how it goes.. there is something in him.

Seems like a promising candidate to become a 2nd rower.

Would love to see a few of these boys in DMeafou, Heidke, Kirk, Williams stay fit.. every serious injury sets em back another year... I thought Daniel was gonna be right up there with CST and not too far behind Latu as possible incoming 13's.. but seemed to struggle with what Flegg games he had this year, I suspect hes been playing injured.

Meh, Timmins ok nothing more. Same as Aymon Fitzgibbon who’s gone to the dogs

I am extremely pleased about Daniel Meafou though

If I could give a scenario for a sec

He reminds me of those guys like in the NFL draft who are a certified top 10 talent but because of a serious injury certain franchises or clubs are scared to gamble on the player and they end up falling to the late 20’s where the successful clubs/franchises are happy to take a punt and back the talent + player to overcome the injuries

Daniel Meafou’s aptitude for defence + his intensity in his running mean he’s definitely a player you keep around the joint

It’s also a good thing to have in the back of Creighton Meafou’s mind when the club opens extension talks with him. The family remembers that the club backed Daniel and it’s a good carrot to dangle to stick with your family coming through the ranks

Yep definitely a chance to retain both Meafous now, I think the chances of Daniel going elsewhere were slim (especially with Latu going).. was definitely a disappointing year for him though, he missed the start iirc and never rly got in front..

I am curious to see where Creighton Meafou and Ollie Burton play next year.. as in what grade.. possibly throw in Ah Kee into that, will they all end up playing SG Ball, or will some of them stay in 17's?

Ah Kee + Creighton are ineligible for Matt’s so they’ll play SG ball

ollie Burton can still play Matt’s next year and I think he should, there’s no rush to get him to SG ball where he’ll be 2 years younger than most guys.

Let him play guys his own age and develop his ballplaying + improve his overall fullback play

I am desperately hoping they give Ah Kee some help in SG ball next year. Would be so deflating for him being surrounded by absolute dross again

Yeah agree, the Dragons SG Ball side is basically all bought in from external, and havent heard much at all in that space in way of signings.. its right in Andos wheelhouse the pathway stuff, but hes coming in pretty late to try and kickstart the HM/SG Ball squads for 2026.

If Ah Kee was willing to move to the gong for a year or 2 who knows.. rly good side potentially forming... but a kid from out west probably wants to stay close to home.

He only would have went to St George because Kyle Stanley was in his ear tbf

The St George pathways is genuinely exactly the same scenario as what the roosters pathways have with very little good ‘local juniors’ due to demographics. This is where innovation and scouting + investment come in

You HAVE to be willing to spend money in pathways if you want to develop your own players consistently well

CJ is signed for longer than Dainel, because of his age
I believe Shadi has 8 weeks minimum next pre season.

Shadi is a tricky one.. I was calling for him to surpass LKT within a season... but couldnt be further from it on the year so far.. tbf he hasnt played that much, and im not even sure if hes remotely close to 100% fitness.. hopefully he gets a preseason into playing a full season of Flegg next year and starts to find his feet.

Been similar with a few guys, DMeafou as well, Weatherall also had a series of injuries.. Hjaltason barely played.. rly slowed all their progress.
