A side note to that,
The Pupualii twins birthday is the last day of the year, a day later and they are playing Matts.
ok cool, yeah that's what I was curious about.. I guess there has to be a line drawn somewhere.. so its done by calendar year, and you need to know their birth date to be sure which they are eligible for... it seems very weird to want to find out the birthday of a kid you don't even know on google no less, but it is such a challenge to work out their age and eligibility....

In terms of age brackets... it's a little bit like when kids start school, some start at 4.5yrs, and some are nearly 6yrs, its a huuuuge maturity gap that you probably don't think about, fast forward to the end of high school...... that maturity gap is still there.

Fletcher Couchman

Position: Five-Eighth

Skills: Speed, Running game, Step / Footwork, Tackle-buster, Vision

He brings a familiar name and even with it even bigger expectations, but make no mistake, Fletcher Couchman already has his own style.

The younger brother of twins Ryan and Toby, Fletcher couldn’t be more different, a versatile running five eighth that can produce the unexpected with the ball in hand.

The youngster’s stepping game, low centre of gravity and speedy traits often put him into space untouched by defenders.

With the ability to turn mundane plays into attacking opportunities, Couchman will be an exciting prospect heading into his first season of Harold Matts.

Yeah, looks to have a good running game.

What makes a good player
Effort on Effort plays

that was the effort I spoke about also, i.e. 1on1 cover tackle.. sprint.. 1on1.. sprint.. I didn't see that in any other game that day.. even first grade where we have one of the fastest fullbacks going round... it was a reminder that the kid has all the ingredients.. not just flashy in attack. The other thing is his pace.. he's a fairly big body.. his acceleration isnt S-Tier.. but he gets up to speed reasonably quickly and once hes running he seems as fast as most other backs.. and he needed to be to get back onside each time.

Reminds me a bit of the Kade effort last night, I thought Kade had buckleys to run Sandon down at the start, but Kade was just focussed on getting his head down and getting up to speed as fast as possible.. and if he could get him 70m down field so be it.. and the little bugger did.. wouldnt begrudge him at all for giving up, some of his teammates did.. shoutout to Feagai for being there quickly also.. felt like that was his tommy dearden moment.. was the first time ive seen the tenacity side of him.

did you notice Sloan, when Sandon took the intercept...

He’s never looked more disinterested than last night when he’s fighting for a new contract

He’s gone after this season thankfully.

I love that even when Ollie Burton doesn’t fill up the stats sheet with tries or assists he just produces big moments in defence or line breaks or defusing a dangerous kick

You can’t coach the intangible qualities that he and Reed possess.

forward to 8.07 and watch, you tell me, what our fastest player did
I see. Just stood there, head down at first then slowly started jogging back, slower than anyone else. No wonder Flanno can't give him away to another club. I doubt even the ESL is interested.

Even LPT who threw the pass, which he tried to pass to Sloan, gave chase... IF Sloan puts his head down and chases, he catches him easily but he had no interest at all..

Its sad to witness, another what could have been player who achieved his dream of pulling on a 1sts jersey for the big red v but never fulfilled his potential

From the eagle cam footage
The line was Mat Nick Loko Ty closest to the ball and Kade who was a metre or so back looking for a pass back..

When Kade catches him Mat is there, Loko and Nick arrive 4 seconds later
Ty,, Couchy who ran 3 metres more after being decoy runner and Ice arrived 8 seconds after the tackle.

the other forum was talking about Feagai and i mentioned this part of the game, i thought Feagai had a solid game, one of the better backs we had out there. Not only did he make that chase with Reed he protected his little mate too ...
I actually forgot about Feagai as a wing option.. was thinking he was ctr depth.. but hes absolutely an option... tbh I dunno which way the coaching staff would be going here.. depends a bit if both centres are 100% good to go.

Rly none of our wingers are 'must picks', they all have their pros and cons.. also havent seen Fale on the wing yet..

Mat will be in the top 19 most weeks, can cover fullback, wing and centre, shame he doesn't have Sloan's pace..
