I was initially 50/50 on the signing of Gutho but as the days go on and the more I see of him on socials the more I love it.
Yea I'm loving it, he's literally shown more positivity and leadership in the last 3 months then Hunt did in 7 years lol. Seems like a whole different vibe around the fans and the club this year, just keen to get into the season and hope it carries onto the field.

He’s no ordinary rookie though, I understand the point you’re making but I think it’s a needlessly risky thing to not extend it longer.
Clubs will see the size and raw potential (especially the new team in 2028) and be happy to take a gamble on him.
He can negotiate with other clubs in 10 months time
Think your misunderstanding the timeframes, he extended for the 2027 season (inclusive) meaning he can't negotiate until Nov 2026, not this year.
The reasoning for it not being longer is pure speculation but could be from either the Dragons side wanting him to get some 1st grade experience, or his manager wanting to get him more dollars after debuting this year, who knows. I just hope he gets a good crack this year and does as well as I think he will cause he has the size and potential to be one of the game's elite props.

Thank god for that! Seems about right. Right for the club and right for the player. If he kills it in first grade this year, I'm sure the club will be looking to extend him late in the year or early next year.
Apparently Matt Lodge has agreed to a train and trial deal. Find it pretty funny after he was whinging about the money being offered at Manly only to end up with this being (what I assume) his only option.

Yea, we have nothing to lose. It doesn't take up a roster sport & Lodge will be desperate to get a top 30 contract as we're his only choice in the NRL.

Lodge will have a proper Top30 contract soon enough, I'm like 99% sure we just need a contract to get him legally able to train while we free up a slot.. Flanno obviously wants to keep the Spot #30 open.. sounds like hes optimistic 1 more may still come.
At some point though, we need room for Lawson & Lodge into that 30.

He's a pretty good prop. I'd bet off field baggage prevented him being in huge demand.
Yea I don't mind it fills a gap short term, cheap and can have impact. Rumours circling for ages but I like that flannos been able to keep the 30th spot open at the same time.

For 2 years on minimal money he's a great buy. Takes pressure off LPT. He can cut his teeth in reserve grade without throwing him in the deep end. Will also put pressure on Frank Molo, Sele and Lawrie. Or whichever one or two of them are in first grade.
