Does anyone know if the 10 days are business days or calendar days ?
I believe it is 10 calendar days. I am wondering which party leaked the signing to the press. If it was the player's agent, then he is probably trying to put pressure on Souths to increase the value or more likely the term of their offer. If it was Souths, then they are probably hoping public opinion (Souths supporters) will influence KK. I can't see any reason for Saints providing details prior to the expiry of the cooling off period.

Yeah George I remember the same happening to Fafita when he was to go with the Roosters. Then the pressure mounted and he stayed at the Titans just for Souths to now have him. Anyone that thinks the pressure won’t be put onto Kk is kidding themselves. We had all the Souths supporters telling us we were dreaming they would be feeling it right now.

Hi George
The 10 day cooling off period is 10 business days and does not include weekends and public holidays. 10 clear business days - so if the cooling off period started on Xmas Eve - which I have read on another source - the 10 days start on Monday 29th December, then day 2 on Tuesday 30/12, day 3 on Wednesday 31/12, day 4 on Friday 2/1/26, day 5 on Monday 5/1/26, day 6 on Tuesday 6/1, day 7 on Wednesday 7/1, day 8 on Thursday 8/1, Day 9 on Friday 9/1 and day 10 on Monday 12/1/26. So the festive season has effectively drawn out the 10 day cooling off period. This certainly gives Souths much more time to work on KK not to leave. Damn it!

"The NRL's 10-day cooling-off period for player contracts involves business days, not calendar days.
This means weekends and public holidays are not included in the 10-day count, providing a full 10 business days for a player to reconsider their contract offer or for their current club to negotiate a retention.
The "cooling-off period" for players signing with a rival club was introduced to replace an older rule and brings more certainty to the player market by having a firm timeframe for finalising contracts.
It is worth noting that general consumer law in Australia also typically specifies cooling-off periods in terms of business days for unsolicited consumer agreements (like door-to-door sales) and for certain property contracts, aligning with the principle of excluding non-working days from the calculation."

Referred for your information and others of course.

Don't count your chickens before.... and not to jump to conclusions until confirmation or otherwise is given on the Dragons' website is what I say.

Thanks Dave, I must be getting old. I thought I could recall an amendment to the Player Collective Bargaining Agreement a couple of years ago which changed the wording to something like the last right to negotiate, and in doing so the period changed to ten calendar days. OK, so that means a few more days of anxiety.

Agreed but it’s not about Souths it’s about him changing his mind for no reason and he doesn’t have to give one.
If Souths could match our offer, he would have taken it rather than ours. No doubt Bennett is hoping and praying for a change of heart but without more money thrown in, leaving his team short elsewhere, I doubt KK will even entertain it. And if Bennett does come up with more money, so revised offer a second time, making them look desperate, we will just move on and look to poach the best young players Souths have. We are in a good position. Please relax.

While all signs point towards Keaon Koloamatangi becoming the next star to join the Red V, South Sydney’s refusal to waive his cooling-off period will mean a nervous 10 days for Dragons fans.

Boy do we need him as our pack enforcer. Last I read Flanagan had settled for our starting bookends to be Kerr and Guler, WOW, so things have been moving fast on landing Kolo. Good work Ando. Now those sour grape rabbits wanna spoil our party!! When does the CO period end guys.
Around the 12 th Jan

Blaming us for a 10day cooling off period is unfair. It applies to every player. If he wants to backflip then he can do it. We can't do much more. What more do fans want from the dragons in this situation?

Also it'd look more bad for souths to waive the cooling off period after he's already knocked them back. They need to show their fans they're still desperate to keep him.

Bennett will be fighting like crazy to retain KK. Why not? In most articles in the press, KK has been shown to be a player of great ability and with years available to him to maintain a high profile as one of the best forwards in the game. Would Bennett allow his club to lose KK? They have offered him a deal but not sure how much less than the Dragons. I don't think that Souths will change their offer, but they can certainly work hard on his mind and get him to back flip.

I have a feeling we are on shaky grounds with this one.

No one is blaming the dragons for the cooling off period. All I said was Souths had an option to waive it and they didn’t. Actually I said the club had done great considering we were writing them off thinking he would stay a Souths.
