Sounded like a couple of clubs were in conversation, but rly glad we got Liddle extended, hes not the best in the comp or anything, but hes been good with his lack of injuries for a while now, and I just dont see us replacing him with better for 2026.. and we have enough jigsaw pieces to sort out as it is with halves, sloan replacement (potentially), alpha prop that we are still chasing..
Long contract but so be it.. only slight risk I guess is that as a 14 hes not really a 14.. i.e. hes not rly covering other positions, but we can work with his strengths.

Maybe fell through and that's why Liddle got 3 years? Liddle to play with Cook next year then be the senior hooker with Kyan Hjaltason for 2 years. If Hjaltason isn't up to it, Kyle to be back up until a long term solution is found. Have plenty of time to get it right now Liddle has signed for 3 more years.

He misses far too many tackles to be a good hooker. Maybe Manly can fix it though as Tyrell Sloan and before him Dufty proved, sometimes it can't be fixed.

Missed tackles is a very misunderstood stat, it’s almost not worth looking at in some cases
Bulldogs have the best defence and lots of their players have high missed tackle numbers because of the line speed and pressure they put at the ball carrier

Da Silvas missed tackles were my concern also, I haven't honestly watched more than his highlight reels, so im not sure on his technique etc.. but even in really short 10-20minute stints (vaguely from memory) it was like 75% efficiency, would be a lot to expect him to be your main first grade hooker, but hes not leaving his club to play reserve grade either.. so its tricky.. he might well even end up in another position though, hes obviously talented.
Just dont think he would suit Flanno though... especially given the promises/price to move him over.

In short bursts Liddle is one of the best hookers in the competition anyway. Next year behind a bit better pack Liddle will be a star.

Have heard Ilias has some performance clauses in his contract, Glover has a ESL contract offer and we after still looking at 7s

I didn't say I was a fan of Gular or Sele but they are under contract. If they can get picked up by another club or ESL, recruiting another prop would be good. Jett Liu should be one the way he has been playing in reserve grade. Locks and props make up the middle rotation.

i know they do, but Stewart for instance isnt taking hit up 1 or 2 consistently in a game, so yeah he is a middle but with a different role
