Recruitment and Retention for 2026

100% .. Braith was briefly supportive of us for the first few rounds, but hes back to throwing hand grenades at every opportunity now that Ilias isnt in 1st grade... can only imagine what he says off-camera.

Sandon Smith is the one youd think is a maybe with Anderson on board.. but who knows.. tbh im not in love with him, but hes a big step up on our other options, and a gun goal kicker.. maybe a bit similar to Atkinson, but we could definitely work with him.

Stuart told The Canberra Times that what was “meant to be a private meeting”
DD What is your view on this matter. Was Finau permitted to test the market, if so the club was fibbing about its public statement that it intended upgrading him, so am puzzled why the meeting was 'private'. Curious and more curiouser is why did his management leak this private' meeting if not to stymie the Raiders so his client could stay at the Dragons..

Ah man I got dudded again by the Mole, I never learn my lesson, found the article, its just talking about 2026 and 2027 players being phased out, its not a bad read though tbh... deep dive on our roster, coaching, backroom staff.. the works:

2027 is very much a clean slate.. hope we can start to get some recruitment momentum... get 1 or 2 names which will encourage more.

I think in the next year and further on, the Club will consist of a more exciting squad of players. More robust, faster and reliable and more positive results team of players. Things should look a lot clearer in the next 4-5 months as to our future prosperity for games in 2026 and beyond. I think the employment of Anderson as the Chief Recruitment and Retention guy at the Club has been made because of his "willingness" to take the hard lines with all players on their contracts and won't give a shit if he has to tell players that they are on the chopping block if players are not performing. I think that he had a big role in getting rid of Dom Young from the Roosters and now he is back at the Knights.

So, Players beware of The DA.

We will have the squad we need I am positive.

Good to know! One thing he said at the end was:

If there is any piece of doubt in the minds of Lancaster and Watsford regarding the future of their current coach, a decision needs to be made as soon as possible.

Either back him with a new deal or cut ties, otherwise another season will be wasted.
I've been really thinking about our situation lately.. its very difficult to manage the last year of a coaches contract.. in theory we wait till April next year and extend if its going well or look elsewhere if its not.. but thats what we did with Griffin in 2023.. and it can end in disaster.. it also might make signings very difficult for 2027.. which we would be talking with right now ahead of Nov 1.

Liam I think is right, you probably talk to Shane, and see if hes onboard with what the club direction is going to be.. and if hes not maybe you move him on early.. but if your gonna back him, you prob need another 1-2yrs with KPI's.. you really want to back him for longer so hes thinking longer term himself.. but tbf its a bit of a mixed bag our time under Shane.. and we needed him I feel before TIm/Daniel.. but once we have those 2 plus a quality GM.. we dont need the coach to be doing everything anymore.. this is all in theory.. I mean god knows what really going on to make a club work.. or if Tim/Daniel are even the guys to hand over the keys too.. but I guess we gotta back someone.

It's tricky, if we don't get more talent for next year & have a similar injury list then result will be the same if not worse. I think they want to see how Shane performs with a healthier list, so might give it until April next year but like you said it's tricky atm. Especially with a few coaches likely to be moved on & others waiting for an opportunity. Regardless of who coaches us from 27, we need to have a squad that's built for long term success. I hope that's where Anderson can stamp his authority. I think our fwds are pretty good but worried about outside backs & spine is a big unknown depending on Atko & LKT.

Someone should have been setting Finau Latu up with one of the Steelers girls a while back 😭😂
Indie Bostock is an ace up Anderson's sleeve.
