Looks like Koula may be off the table, Zerotalk article, take with a grain of salt..

I just dunno how the clubs r doing it.. extending all these guys who are being offered huge cash.. Koula in particular though, got Hopoate, Turbo, Faulalo in front.. even Garrick can play fullback.. granted they will try to move him on... but hes still 4th in line.. they cant give him big dollars.

Seems like every club is doing something Rev except us. Mind you I’m not one for paying huge overs just to get someone. Anyway let’s just see what happens in January. I’m really over all this cloak and dagger bs. Let’s hope DA has got something up his sleeve.

I hate the idea of paying overs but might be necessary for a fullback, prop or halfback. Even though I doubly hate paying overs for a halfback after the last halfback we paid overs for.

100% we are a target all the player managers know we are. The longer we get no one the more they will want. If it looks like no news until January then most likely can’t shake them loose for 2026. The whole recruiting game is very complex especially with new teams coming in. Anyway I remain unfazed and just hope our juniors can cut it.

You would think with a winger being the easiest position to recruit to that we would have organised something. I don’t know mate something makes me feel they think they are sweet for wingers, especially with the young guys they got from Penrith and warriors.
The guys they got from Penrith and Warriors aren't young. If they had been in first grade previously they'd be veterans by now.

As far as we are concerned, we seem to be worried a lot about maybe 4 positions in our squad that need bolstering and they being a fullback, winger, halfback and prop. Yes, getting newbies from somewhere would be great and I suspect that they are targeting a prop at this stage and leaving the other three positions for another time.

I'm trusting that Flanno and Anderson have worked out if we have enough good players to be competitive next year and are not panicking and worried too much.

Has there been any confirmation the club is after a fullback? It would be an admission of a big mistake from Flanno. But more than that, I think Gutho still goes ok. He's not the best fullback and is being paid overs but he still goes ok.

Yes, I agree that Gutho is still ok but down the track they should be earmarking someone to be his replacement. It goes without saying that the better clubs identify what they need a few years ahead so that they can look at who might be available to target at the appropriate time but not too late a time.

I try and cure myself of the habit of just saying, "Throw ******* (some SG Ball standout) into the NRL" but in this case, the fullback Burton played Aus schoolboys when he was 16! I believe he's 17 now and will turn 18 neat year. Maybe 1 more year for Gutho and then Burton.

Yes, we cannot underestimate what our younger players can do as they grow older and stronger and hopefully faster. This is where blokes like Anderson know what it takes to be a top class player in the making and ensuring that they are signed for a good period and then given the best training/coaching that is needed in all forms of prowess and leaving no stone unturned so that his skills are honed to perfection. Bringing them into the higher grades without rushing them is also necessary to prevent burn out and not getting too far ahead of themselves and therefore bringing on attitude.

I think that the Club is now making sure that our juniors are the ones that will be our marquees of the future. Players that bleed red and white and will fight hard in every game. All players male and female should attend a combined meeting when the big wigs and coaches and some sponsors talk to them about being the best and doing the things for each other on and off the field and bring harmony amongst them for the year ahead.

The new C of E will be a great aid for the future of the Club and it will be an awesome future.

Rocco Walker is another possibility as well as the boy who came across from the Roosters

what I like about the Daniel Anderson recruitment is that his philosophy years, if you can’t tackle you can’t play in the NRL. So I am hoping some of these kids come through and become superstars.

I agree Dave there are positives despite not (yet) securing a marquee signing. The noticeable difference I see since DA has come on board is that the club appears to be looking three, four and five years ahead and not just reacting to the immediate situation (which recent history has shown to be too late).

If we hadn’t let our junior pathways go to a waste land we would have been right by now. Instead we find ourselves building the club up again.

You guys keep painting more doom and gloom as is this super play maker and alpha prop nothing more than a fantasy. All we can say is Atkinson better have been worth the wait, otherwise we are in for yet another dud season. Other clubs have already finalised their rosters while we pussy foot. This constant waiting for some good news is excruciatingly annoying. Still like you Jd hoping Anderson does have something up his sleeve to give us hope.

I think he's disappointed he isn't better than he actually is given the wraps he used to get when he was 18~19 and the way Brad Fittler called him, "The Chosen One".
Dont blame him but the bloke we paid an obscene salary to for so little return. As our best strike weapon Lomax should have had the ball in hand in space so much more than he did to work his magic. Then he'd have been the 'chosen on'. Just out of interest, who were our play makers back when he was 18 and one of the NRLs most promising players.
