Agree but if we can't keep them all I would say Ryan would be the one to miss out unfortunately
I’ll throw it out there and say Ryan is a keeper 100%. Local junior, no fuss. I’d be prepared to let Jacob and all his baggage ( old man ) walk before letting Ryan go. You can just see Jacob’s old man being a full time problem and never settling down. That’s my opinion

Ryan and Toby should both be signed first, then worry about the others.

Happy to not argue with you both the Couchman's should be our mainstays for the next 10 years injury barring. If it came down to a choice between the two I would say at this point in time Toby is the better footballer

No need to argue. 1st priority is to lock them both up long term, then move onto LPT, Jacob if he can sort out his old man, Tsougranis, Webster, Hutchinson. That’s a pack we can work with for 5-10 years

At least next year we will have someone that can kick a field goal.
Exactly plus good kicking in general. I like the way Drinky covers both sides in attack - always on the move and trying to be that extra man. That is why he scores a few and sets up many. We put Holmes on the wing and we have Sami and Holmes on each flank but our centres are our biggest problem so DA needs to get at least one beauty. Then Drinky will benefit these guys greatly. Our attack should be far better next year and our vdefence is starting to improve especially in the middle.

I reckon Drinkwater is an all-round gun. An underrated signing. Maybe because Gutho has deteriorated so quickly people are unconsciously thinking the same of Drinkwater.
As a coach you look at those players in a game who are under great duress especially when you are behind on the scoreboard. You don't have to send any messages out to those players they already know.

Drinkwater under those circumstances was outstanding against the Sea Eagles. He showed the qualities of a standout player and will certainly make a big difference in our kick returns and attacking structures next season where speed and agility are just two such qualities we so badly require at the moment.

Taking nothing away from our current fullback who has tried his best week in week out but no longer has the legs for 1st grade for the full 80 minutes.

I think a lot of people are frothing about the Drinkwater signing Eric. His attacking play can be quite seductive to watch. However, if you broaden your focus a bit, it might not be all sunshine and lollipops. There are reasons why he has never been selected for rep footy, and reasons why the Cowboys are happy to let him go.

His tackle efficiency percentage is in the low 70s this season. Among the worst of all fullbacks in the comp. He also has 29 errors which is second worst of all fullbacks in the comp behind only Kini with 30. He also has 35 missed tackles so far this season - worst of all fullbacks by a long margin.

Drinkwater will also be the same age in his first season with us as Gutho was when we signed him. I have to wonder what impact Father Time might have on his attacking abilities. I reckon we might get one good season from him followed by a Gutho-esque decline. There is a genuine risk that by 2028 we are looking back at the Drinkwater signing wondering how in the world we could possibly have agreed to that.

I don't think the Cowboys were happy to let him go. It's just they couldn't keep him and Purdue. Personally I think, barring serious injury, we can see 2 good seasons out of him before he starts to decline noticeably. Due to modern training techniques, lack of serious injury in recent years and that he doesn't rely on speed as much as ball-playing and skill. After 2 years Burton or Rokko Walker or someone else might be banging on the door forcing Drinkwater to get a last payday in the ESL, move to 5/8 or be backline cover on the 6-man bench.
