He is not a centre he is a 2nd rower but there won't be a spot in 2027 in that position so are the Dragons trying to ascertain if he is a viable option as a centre?
Its a very big dilemma with Gutherson for next season. You simply can't leave a $800k player out of your 1sts but why sign Drinkwater unless there was a plan in place for Gutho?
I note that Nick Tsougranis has been named in the centres in ressies this week against a strong Warriors team. I'll be watching him closely.

Gutho playing centre in 2027 is horrible. Rather have Tsougranis or Buchanan. At least they’re young, fit and keen. As much as Gutho tries, he’s old, busted and broken down. Love his will but unfortunately his body can’t keep up anymore

According to Holmes Gutho is in the centers next year, standby for that one, we had seen him there before and he's been shown up badly.

God if true that’s got disaster written all over it. I know we’re stuck with him but if centre is his new position then f ark me dead. Guy can’t train now, imagine next year

100% mate, we had him in that position before and he got smoked. There is nothing about Gutho that makes me think he can play center.

Mate it wont take 3 rounds, we know he's not up to now.
I agree. But I think Deano (if the coach) gives him the jersey out of respect but after 3-5 games his form will be terrible and Dean will have no choice but to replace him

If it turns out like that, wouldn't that be the epitome of a loser mindset? The club owes Gutho nothing. He came at the tail-end of his career and has provided very little bang for the buck. He is not owed anything. He should start next season on the reserve grade bench.

We should 100% be chasing kayliss fatialofa from the warriors, absolute stud and would walk straight into round 1 next year at centre (i know he’s not naturally a centre)

am hoping we can land someone soon.. seems like forever since Metcalf and Watson.. I could have sworn it was a ctr we we after but if it really is a 6.. maybe Atkinson is that centre..
The squad is looking up for next year for sure, but definitely a few pieces short still... even replacing Feagai and Sloan.. as ctr/wing/fback coverage.

we still have money for a few players.. not a gun but we have to fill a bunch of spots.. feagai and sloan in particular.. 2 outside backs we lean on heavily. CT gone also.. we need 1 more quick body into that backline..
If Gutho gets retired it'll probably be very late in the piece.. wont leave much time to fill his spot.. but still be a good wad of money to attack someone early 2027..

There’s always players that get pushed out somewhere, guarantee a player no one expects to leave will be made available due to salary cap pressure/ young gun being prioritised
Matt Timoko contract is up end of ‘26 with Canberra having a club option for ‘27-‘28
Wilson De Courcey not extended with Newcastle and rejected their 2 year offer so he’s gonna leave them as well
Penrith and Izaxk Tago something suss going on between them allegedly
On top of all this, one of our young backs could have a great offseason and be a genuine option in the backline (Charlie Heidke come on down son)

PNG throwing a curve ball with their targets, now Joey Manu is touring their facilities. We need to lock up our youngsters asap, worried about them with their 3rd party deals too. I think there will be plenty of off-season moves, PNG are free to negotiate from Nov onwards with players whose contracts finish end of 27 season. Maybe guys like Suli are a potential fallback option for them if they miss their main recruit. Perth might be desperate too. The sellable players imo Holmes, Suli & potentially Kerr.
