Tbf it’s a bit harder offering top 30 to 16 year olds because sometimes they look immense at that age and you want to lock them in and show them they’re valued by the club. There’s plenty of kids I’ve seen at 16/17 who I’ve immediately thought should get a top 30 deal (Like Burton and Jasais Ah Kee recently)

Think that’s just a gamble that hasn’t paid off, be great if we could move Weatherall on somehow though

I think this time next year we could be thinking Rokko Walker is one of those 17 year olds who should be given a top 30 deal with the exceptional talent he has

yep its tough.. especially if the young ones have rival clubs chasing them.. aka Stewart who had several.. we all thought the club was crazy to offer a 4yr contract back when he rly was just an average reserve grade player.. but a kid who literally lived at the dragons with his dad, was ready to follow Bennett to the Dolphins after 1 meeting.. similar to Bostock.. another club was rdy to commit before we did.. and look what happened.

Its brutal.. but they got one wrong with Weatherall sadly.. havent seen a player go that off the rails for a while, like DMeafou hasnt reached the heights we had hoped for (yet), but I still think he is a chance to get there.. and he is still doing his best when fit.. in general the challenge is trying to predict exactly when said player will be a Top30 quality player.. and thats a gamble... because their paths are all unique.... but if you dont back them...

And im not sure what Leeroy is doing.. I suppose he is frustrated. Hopefully we can find a way to move him on or maybe we have to cop hopefully just 1 year.

Yes I agree exactly that would be very hard to predict when a teenager will hit peak and keep on improving like the club thinks they should as everyone is unique.

DA has done an amazing job to piss off the deadwood on decent $$$, bring in some fantastic new signings and now focusing on the young pups up front.

Yes Leeroy has shown what to earn the top 30 deal honestly he is a liability hot head and really hasn’t lived up to expectations I get sign young kids but to offer a top 30 deal and he is 19 amd done what the last two years. Rokko Walker still at school and 16
