Gutho is running on fumes, you’d have to think 2027 is the last year, his body can’t keep up. Holmes is a different story, he could still squeeze 2/3 years out of the SL lemon

Bloody hell. How on earth did we have this guy, Flanno, helping out with recruitment and pathways when he was our head coach? Just imagine if the Board didn't put the pressure on him to go and he remained the head coach. Same old, same old players with a couple more rejects or journeymen signed for 2027.
Flanno would not have been in the race to get the guys we have coming in November. He would not have gone for either Metcalf or Nikorima and kept Kyle and Atkinson as the halves. Gutho would remain the fullback etc. etc.
The big question mark that still remains is with how Deano will go?

I firmly believe that DY wont have the balls to put Gutho in reserve grade, KF yes but not Gutho. I also think our center depth is not flash atm, so Holmes still there but only just. Some of his games this year were down right embarrassing for a so called origin player.

If Dean Young was to show how gutsy he will be in his role as the full-time Head Coach of the Dragons first grade team then he has got to have the balls in saying to Gutho - "Hey mate, guess what? You are not playing in first grade." Tough decisions will have to be made by Deano and not be hairy fairy about it.
I don't care who we will be playing in Round 1 next year. We have to win otherwise our embarrassment will continue.

I think you are right Dave, RD 1 is where we have on show what we have, not the trial games or the CS, look what happened in the CS this year, we all went into panic mode and rightly so that we got done by the Souths reserve grade side. Nope, minimal attendance by our NRL players to these games just like everyone else. If we haven't got our combinations right with roughly 6 months worth of training then something is wrong.

I like Gutho. It's not his fault Flanno was taking the piss out of the club. The faster game coinciding with injuries and age catching up to Gutho means he isn't first grade standard.
I hope Dean Young has told Gutho, he's not playing centre or wing or lock or an interchange utility. He's playing fullback for reserve grade.
