There is also the fact most or all clubs start the season with at least one top 30 spot free. The guy with the least to offer is Kyle Flanagan. Need to take off the kid gloves with him. Everyone knows, not least Kyle himself, he wasn't signed or extended on merit. We need that extra spot in the roster! What is he going to do next year? Back up halves will be Reed and LKT. After that will be Hodges and Atkinson. WE NEED HIS SPOT IN THE ROSTER OPEN! GET HIM OUT OF THERE!

Nope - we have 2 spots in the roster ... We dont need his spot ... We need his cap money - the clown is on over 600k
We cannot afford mid tier players to come in and boost the squad because of deals like that.
However because no other club will pick him up we are stuck with his 600k+ on the cap
we cannot simply cut him and get an immediate benefit to our squad/recruitment posture.

correct ... you need to have 24 by Nov 1 (check), 28 by round 1 (check) and 30 by June 30.

Yes. Need one of the 28 free to promote someone who might be some use to first grade, or even to reserve grade. Can't see how that person will be useful to either.
