Newcastle will have Ponga back making them a 20 point better team. He's on only a bit more money than Holmes. What has happened to Holmes? His form has fallen off a cliff. He's only 30 as well. You'd think he has another 2 or 3 good years. Maybe should move him to the wing.

We keep trying to move these players around like chess pieces and it doesn't work. Either he is injured or has checked out, plain and simple. The reality of it is players that lose form like that should be dropped to ressies, why cant they ? Holmes has been abominable this year and along with others. This is the team Flanno built, it wont work no matter where we put these guys, get our future into the side and lets see what we have that can handle todays game style. Have the balls to make these decisions !!!

Problem is there is no one pushing to replace him in the lower grades.

He was poor again last week. I watched him closely and there is something not right, he seemed to be going through the motions or is hiding an injury.

His stat's this season are poor, avg about 14 runs a game for 109m, he has made 3 line breaks all season, 4 linebreak assists, 2 tries. This from a marquee player on $1m a season?

Something is not right

Surely if Holmes is not fit and is harboring an injury that has taken a while to get over, then he should be rested until that injury is completely healed. If he is down on form (which to me looks more likely) then he should spend a bit of time helping the ressies side get a few wins. I know that this won't look good though if he does get dropped and of course who have we got that is any better?

I think that most of our guys have been affected psychologically with all the dramas that have occurred up to this point this year. The Vegas syndrome could have played a part - big occasion for most of the players and just getting done by a dud ref call. But mostly I think that Flanno did not have the answers and he just said bad things like we don't have the cattle to play finals footy and giving his son too much leeway.

Lets see how we go against the Knights after the bye and particularly check out Holmes in that game to see if he should be ejected.

I was just throwing out there that he may have an injury, I don't know, I was looking for a reason why he has been so poor this season

Guler and Atkinson should also pay for our embarrassing debacle along with Sloan and not make Tu the only scapegoat. Feagai needs t finish in Ressies where he has played his best footy. Why remove Ryan from the edge as that is where Deano wants him and where pray tell is big Loko Jr? Nick T and Egan can battle out a bench spot with Sele as Luch will only miss the one match.

Pick your two best hookers and then 8 best forwards

Cook/Liddle (flano to 18 to cover but not play until Fagalilo deemed ready or an import procured)
Toby/Ryan/Jake/Egan/Stewart/Loko/Sua/Leilua but given Sua/Leilua are unavailable you need two more out of Lawrie/Sele/Kerr/Guler (for me it is Sele and Lawie - but something feels off with Sele at the moment in the squad - unsure what that is)

once you have the 8 forwards then you simply pop them into the most logical positions ... until Luc/Sua Back that would be

Lawrie/Cook (or lids)/Toby
Egan/Halangahu
Stewart

Then Sele/Ryan/Loko from the bench

Ryan to me in that game did nothing on the edge (he is the logical cover there though) only 10 receptions was a bit of a departure from our usual structure to the edge. Perhaps 1st game back jitters.

When everyone is fit decisions will need to be made because we are very over supplied in edge forwards.

I think he’s injured and his confidence is shot to pieces.

I thought Sele was effective in the Cup match yesterday and yes I know it was only Cup level. His step gets him between the defence as opposed to Lawrie and Guler who can be lined up and thumped. I would definitely pick Sele ahead of both of them.

I stood next to this bloke at the Titans game and on his physique and physical appearance this bloke should be running 100m plus every game, yet he can't manage 50m, Im talking about Kerr.

What is the reason?
He has been so disappointing this year. He was ordinary under hook, went away to the dolphins and improved so much. Back to us and probably worse than his first stint
