Round 15 v Sharks

He has some excuses. Frank Molo walking out. I don't think that would be bad at all. I was surprised Flanno wanted to keep him. But then Ryan Couchman then Egan and now Su'A. Forward depth is really being tested and found out. Flanno would love Frank Molo to be available now.
Agree Ed, but our issues also are in the halves and we know what goes on there.

At least Shonkies are also struggling badly. Maybe worse than us because we were tipped for the spoon and they were tipped to be one of this years best teams. AFBs form has gone downhill badly. Ditto Nicho Hynes and those 2 are contracted for a mil or more for another few years. But that won't help us on Thursday.

Yep, can see a nasty trend happening for the rest of the year. We are just not slick enough. Most teams can turn it on when needed and can dominate for most of the game. That is what is lacking with us. Look closely at our players - can you see any real match winners amongst them - who is the danger man? Who is managing the team and game? That #7 won't be any match with the #7 from the Sharks. No big hitters in the forwards.

Go the Dragons.
Agree for us to be a chance everything needs to go our way , no penalties against us , no six again against us , and the opposition to have a complete off day ....... That's the only way we seem to be able to win games ........

It's easy what will happen is we will play them back into form ........ It's a Dragon thing we are just a nice team 😁

It would be nice for it to continue but they are a quality team. Sorry to say. I expect they'll be really fired up to bounce back. And as Edward Edward said, forward depth seems to have reached the bottom. Maybe Sele can come in and go ok in his first game of first grade in a long time and maybe Tsougranis can come in and kill it like Egan did. So if Holmes is selected for QLD this is what I think Flanno will do. If it was me, of course I'd drop Kyle:
  1. Gutho
  2. Sloan
  3. Lawson
  4. Suli
  5. Finau
  6. LKT
  7. Kyle
  8. Klemmer
  9. Cook
  10. JDB
  11. Couchman (far from his best position)
  12. Tsougranis
  13. Stewart
  14. Liddle
  15. Sele
  16. Luciano
  17. Tonga

Maybe that's whats lacking. JDB, Stewart, Couchmans, Egan are all quality players but none are the really hard headed forwards who might get suspended from time to time but need to compliment those mentioned above. Like Costigan and Jeremy Smith.

We definitely need that inforcer.
It's a fine line to getting it right, we have only had one suspension that was Guler in Round 4 and 3 fines dangerous contact.

How many rebuilds does this club need to undertake to establish a highly proficient team of players who will dominate for years and years and years?

They say that "Rome was not built in a day". It took nearly 900 years for the people to build the place from a small village to a powerful empire. I know that I am being stupid in asking but will this club that we follow wholeheartedly take that long to be powerful again? MDPA!!

When have we actually gone through a rebuild? All our coaches were given 3yr type contracts apart from Mary & all of them have been focused on immediate wins. We haven't gone through a rebuild.

We've been content with the aim of making finals rather than focusing on creating a top 4 side.

This year is a great opportunity to get games into our younger players. We've done this to an extent but imo mainly forced through injuries rather than preference.

This isn't the 90s/00s/early 2010s. These kids are far more advanced in their development & professionalism. Give them games now or risk letting them fall behind in development.

This club continues to tread water by playing mediocre average players without genuinely going through a rebuild.

Tbh I don't see it changing because flanno is contracted until end of 26 & our club wants to be in finals because it sounds nice. It sounds live they've achieved something. We'll just be making up the numbers.

I want sustained top 4 success to be a legitimate premiership force.

No rebuild. Signing or re-signing veterans past their best looking for instant success. Still doing that. It's not bad to sign or re-sign a few but Dragons last 4 coaches have done it way too much.

Though I don't know who the club has tried to sign, how much they were offered, how much they asked for and all of that.

Nick T can't become that enforcer?
To my eye watching the ressies I would say that the bloke who has a bit of mongrel in him is Jett Liu

To be an enforcer you need to have that mindset that whilst playing on the field nobody in the opposition is a good bloke. They are trying to bash you, hurt you and your team mates so you have no regard for your own well-being or body you have to stop them in doing so.

They are against you and you need to treat them accordingly of course within the rules of the game. Enforcers are far and few between these days .

2 enforcers are better than one.

I'd go the opposite, Nick is the enforcer for me.
Jett is one of the quietest kids you'll meet. Also very religious and polite, just can't see him being a hard arse.

I had a long career serving and protecting went to many a pub fight. It was always the quiet ones that you had to worry about. Saw him get fired up in a game, big enough too but you would know better than me.

I've watched your pick the last few seasons and he's built to be one but you have to earn your reputation as an enforcer and its not playing in the centres. You have to tough it out in the middle of the park.

Not disagreeing with you but the sooner he gets back to his rightful spot the more we will know about him and if he can be that type of player.

I'd say JDB would be our toughest forward in 1sts but wouldn't necessarily call him our enforcer.

We have Klemmer and had Mcguire plus Sims both of them I suppose, but you cant have past it Alpha's being our enforcer, and I dont know if LPT will develop into one either, once things started to go haywire the other night he seemed very lost. Not blaming him though he had no leadership from anyone.
