Round 18 vs Wests Tigers

Just watched the replay, first and foremost I'll take the win. But that was an ordinary game of football between 2 teams that won't be playing semi finals football this season.

I thought our best forward was young LPT, how good is this bookend improving with game time at his age. Closely followed by the Couchman's, we can't afford to let any of these lads go. When Leilua came on he was effective.

Our young pack were just too much for the Tigers to handle. Apart from May and Twal non made a 100m.

In the backs who finally took advantage of our packs dominance, Holmes had his best game for the season as did Feigai and TU was solid once again. The halves ran with the ball, a total of 16 runs between them for 146m, double of last week's.

To my eye that's the key to scoring points, a young pack consistently making the advantage line and the halves taking the time and space to execute our attacking structures and taking on the line when the opportunity to do so presents itself.

Both our 9s took advantage of our go forward and after the Tigers lost Koroisau in the 60th minute we gained the advantage around the ruck area and the game was ours to win.

Completion rate was ordinary 71% less than the Tigers. In fact the Tigers won most of the stats but our defence won us that game, only 18 missed tackles which is a season best by far.

A bye next week followed by a tough game against the high flying Warriors. Well done lads.

A good appraisal Joe. I hope that this win puts a big smile on your face as you continue your Safari in the deepest jungles of Africa or is that only in India and you will be jeeping along the prairies sighting those beautiful beasts of nature? Hope all well with you and keeping safe. Cheers.

Toby, Loko, Jake my keeps if we were only allowed to keep three. Out of Jake and Hamish, Jake because he is most likely our future skipper too.
I am really hopeful that we can keep all of those that are now in the team plus Webster and Tsougranis. Our current crop of forwards plus another back rower soon to be signed will give us a really good squad of forwards for first grade and back ups which is what we need for next year - good back ups are essential.

Important to remember there is a 3 or 4 year age gap between Hamish and Halangahu.

Jake is the youngest of the young gun forwards and not everyone’s development is linear.

I don’t think it would shock anyone if after another preseason and losing some of the baby fat that Jake looks like an absolute stud next year

Don’t be prisoners of the moment about players/coaches after a good or bad result!!!
