Round 22 v Dolphins at the Gong

Dean did say thats why Hamish played edge.. so he could play more games/minutes without the workload of playing lock.. Egan missed 10 or so rounds also, hes probably OK, LPT started mid-season, so probably Couchies if anyone would be struggling.. thats probably happening because Kerr and Guler have been so dissapointing, thought we would have gotten lots more minutes out of em... def seems time to play some hutcho or webster instead... Nick also if he can put a few games together in cup.

Our injury situation rly isnt too bad this year (its mostly the depth players), esp vs last year where half our pack was gone, multiple ACL's early.. so quite dissapointing to only have 2 wins out of 2026.
Been there, done that myself in playing my best and most promising players much longer than I really should have to make the team appear more competitive.

Also believing that showcasing them in ressies their chances of being promoted to 1sts would be enhanced.

It was a mistake then and it is a mistake now. The season is gone therefore its time to take better care of our youngest and brightest by reducing their minutes and blooding other players from ressies who are deserving of a crack at 1sts.

Its time the hc started to make the necessary decisions

As I said earlier, damn Young is desperado to win games so I really don't think that he will experiment and give those guys that need a break - that. The likes of the Couchies and Stewart and Egan etc will be selected, if fit, for the remaining games, I can see it. If they were given a rest, I can see those players and coaches of the clubs we still have to play rubbing their hands with glee so that they can thrash us and make us look totally embarrassed and get better for and against.

A good coach would put the player, team and club before himself. I personally don't rate him but I would be interested to see how he reacts to last week's thrashing and the real possibility of two further thrashings in the coming weeks.

That will give me a guide to the measure of the man as a hc.

No changes. It's not as if the last placed team got hammered by the 2nd class. One thing we can say for the last 3 coaches, they have A LOT of loyalty to the side which keeps losing. Too early to say the same is true for Deano but the early symptoms are clear.

I didn't rate Young prior to this and this just smacks as someone who is bereft of any ideas or thinking outside the box

His reaction to last weeks game was “he didn’t see it coming” on that note I’ll rest my case.

Well there you go absolutely no changes made to our team v Dolphins unless
Mug Fan Mug Fan has any information. Very disappointing personally to me.
As I said, Young will persist with the forwards and run them ragged. He is desperate for a win at the expense of resting any players. The one thing that he might do though is if things go awry early in the game and the Dolphins skip out to a 20 nil lead after 25 minutes, he might use the bench more and rest a few of the players and not leaving them on the field for as long as he has been.

Why would he change the team he has named? Is someone injured?

The worst thing about it is the lack of accountability. Why would clowns like Kyle and Atkinson strive to be better or LKT and others strive to play well in reserve grade when the former know they won't be dropped and latter know they won't be promoted? It's not that reserve grade players wouldn't strive to play well but the motivation is surely much diminished. Kyle and Atkinson might strive to play better but they both know like everyone else except Dean Young, they have no business in first grade.

If anyone was still on the fence about Dean Young, I present to you the game after he was announced and the (same) team he selected in response to that. As a coach, the guy is utterly clueless.

What have you seen in Atkinson's game to suggest he'd be a good centre?
