I havent watched him that closely, but hes one of the guys I thought we should be after.. far more defensive effort in him than drinkwater, plenty of pace.. just being held out due to the hammer.. first grade experience, prob 300k less than Bula who would be 2027 firstly.....and is someone im actually not all that sure about, Bula is a funny cat and he would want 900k.. and he may choose to stay at a happy tigers club anyway.
As for Flanno, I mentioned this a while back.. he has been doing the same thing for the last 2 years, it worked from him before and he just keeps doubling down.. and again and again... the fact that he is not adapting to this faster more modern game... means he is unable to adapt because it makes no sense to him..... there is a logic divide between what he sees with his eyes and what he knows in his head.. it should work but it doesnt.... we need to put him out of his misery because he's not going to quit by himself.. but... we cant just replace him with another 'run hard tackle hard' coach, we need someone with some smarts with our gameplan and recruitment.. I'd love to do it this week against Manly because we head into harder games.

I remember a time when Billy Slater was out injured for several weeks and Melbourne went on a losing streak. In the after game press conference, when Bellamy was asked what the problem was, he said he had no answer. Bellamy, you know the best coach in the last 30 years or so had no answers. I am 100% serious too. Flanno was always going to be pushing shit up hill. Now it is an avalanche sliding back over him.
Dean Young is said to be a "coach in waiting". He is the red hot favourite to be our next coach, but he may not even want the job, as it would probably be coaching career suicide, like it has been for the last 4 coaches who coached us. He will probably want to wait until we have a roster that he thinks he can win with. Seriously, what young aspiring career coach would want to take the job as our coach? I don't think any would, beside maybe Dean Young or Ben Hornby. They were the only 2 "applicant's left if Flanno didn't take the job last time. I would take Hornby over Young. Just on a hunch.

To me their would be enormous pressure on Reed, because everyone would be expecting that he will fix everything. This team needs more than Reed to fix its issues.

I don't even watch the after game press conferences. The winning coach and captain usually look happy and content, while the losing ones often look disheveled, uncomfortable and don't have much to say. I don't even think the losers should have to attend the after game press conference, unless they have a gripe about referee's, touchie's or bunker decisions.

Same with the Grand Finals. The losing team should just go straight to the sheds and let the winners celebrate on their own.
It is almost like humiliation for the losing teams after the grand final or the after game press conference. There wasn't after game press conferences back in the 80's and 90's

As I said, I would have started with Reed at the beginning of the season. Halfback is the most important position on the field. We have been playing a player who isn't a halfback there all season and it hasn't worked. You could say there has been enormous pressure on Acko to perform what he isn't cut out to do. Then that has led to enormous pressure on Shane Flanagan and the rest of the team. Things could have been a lot different if Flanno played Reed at halfback to start the season and Acko 5/8.
Flanno was/is basically coaching for his career and picked his son, instead of the best halfback and prospect we have. It is a bit like having a Ferrari sitting in the garage and driving a dated Ford or Holden, because you didn't want to damage the Ferrari. Now he won't even have a chance to drive the Ferrari.

Sorry to break it to you petal, but your mate Shane signed him to play 7. Shane has trained him there all off season so Kyle could play 6. So I guess Shane has put all that pressure on himself.
Now if your mate Shane continues to play Daniel at 7 so Kyle can play 6 then the self inflicted pain ain’t going away any time soon

Fuller is actually a good idea in the short term I really rate him. He is X factor and we need that desperately.
I’m be been supporting the dragons since I was a kid in the 70’s! 1 time in out lives they seemed serious when the brought Bennett in and look how good we were!
Barely two years we had him and he decided to leave and we have been pathetic ever since!
Whoever owns the dragons uses them as a tax write off or something cause for sure the dint care about winning!
I haven’t even really watch the last few years cause we already know what’s going to happen!
Maybe a few times a year I’ll watch kayo mini and it’s always th same!
Last year one of the wingers (a big islander) celebrated cause he scored a try and did the “show me the money” thing, when we were losing by 20 or 30, and he is still in the team and still pathetic!

Is it money or do we still train in Wollongong and no Sydney people want to travel down?

As soon as I started watching an Easter Saturday game with lots of empty seats I thought “yep, nothing has changed since I watched years ago!
Sack the owner, sack the cei, sack the coach, sack the entire team except maybe that Stewart guy!

As I have said, numerous times, I would have been playing Reed who I saw as the best option, if I was coach. Flanno doesn't think he is ready, just like the majority on this forum don't think he is ready. I have said, if I was Flanno and coaching for my career, I would be playing Reed at halfback and Acko at 5/8. Many on this forum have wanted Flanno to play King Togia with Acko as our halves. I have said, that I don't rate King Togia and tonight's game backed up my belief that he isn't first grade material. I have said that Acko is a 5/8. So I don't agree with Flanno selection of Acko at halfback and Kyle at 5/8. I also don't agree with Flanno's selection of Lawrie in the 17. I also said if he isn't going to play Reed, then move Gutho to 5/8, which could take some pressure off Acko at halfback and play Holmes at fullback. I have also said Flanno doesn't have the cattle and never did have the cattle. I am not a fan of Kyle, but thought he is a better option than King Togia. I thought Flanno signed Acko to play 5/8
What is the "petal" business"? lol Since I have been on this site, I have withstood more opposition and bullying than everyone else put together. lol I am certainly no snowflake or shrinking violet. You all can see that. Yet I still have not felt the need to resort to insults or attempt to belittle anyone or make offensive remarks to anyone. If I wanted to, I could and be very good at it too. lol If I did so, I would probably already have been banned from the site too. I am not here for that. You all should be able to see that for yourselves by now. I am here to talk football. Just keep the conversation to football and have a respectful conversation about football. We don't know each other. We are just faceless people discussing football, namely St George Illawarra on a public forum.

Maybe he isn't physically ready, but the other options aren't good enough. Look where the other options have gotten us. Flanno is now looking like his coaching career is over. I probably thought he wasn't physically ready before the Charity Shield, due to his light frame, but after seeing him be our best player in the Charity Shield, I changed my mind. I certainly don't think King Togia is ready for first grade either or good enough for first grade. I don't think Kyle is good enough for first grade. The only other option I see is moving Gutho to 5/8, but that may be off the table if he has done his hamstring. It appears Flanno is dammed if he does play Reed and dammed if he doesn't. There are lots of others calling for Reed to be picked including rugby league people on Foxsports and other media organisations.

I will add that Bennett left us in a bad way roster wise and things have never gotten better since. He didn't want to come back either. In 2012, I was talking about how Bennett left us in a bad way and wasn't happy about it. Bennett is also the one who based us at Wollongong and recommended Steve Price be the head coach after him. He didn't recruit any good youngsters while he was our coach either and set a trend that has continued pretty much ever since. He only blooded Trent Merrin and Kyle Stanley while he was here. He also left Newcastle in a bad way as well.
2018 is the only season we looked good, since Bennett left.
