Agree. Flanno seems to have his favorites and guys he does not rate, when the rest of us do. Two case in points, Sione Finau and Liddle.if Liddle keeps getting little game time we will lose him

The take 2 steps, stop, pivot and pass with really exaggerated arm movement drives me crazy. I don't agree he was good against the Titans. Even with the bar set so low as it is. See how many times he was caught with the ball when attacking their line?He has two plays that drive me crazy. His turning ball back inside for the receiver to be crunched and his bloody dummying when a try is on.
I think Ilias is ok. He runs deep into the line before passing on a regular basis. It hasn't worked out for him so far but I think it's coming along. He isn't another Widdop yet and never will be but I can see the comparison. Though Widdops kicking was way better.I may be on the outer, but my opinion. Watch him closely as I did mostly in first half. He is a harder runner than two of the those guys but his defense is no better. He plays big mins, prob too many while his try was from a immaculately timed pass from Ilias. That was a bit of ball play we need to see a lot more from him, had a touch of Widdop about it. He also made a scything run with 20 mins to go. Like to see more of this too as he is nippy on his feet.
I removed RFM for Stewart in a repost. Then I am the odd man out re Egan. Have often been over my 55 yrs backing the Dragons.Eisenhuth, RFM, Sele.
You are kinda contradicting yourself. Early days for Ilias. Widds was at his best in his late 20s, early 30s when we were lucky to have him.He isn't another Widdop yet and never will be but I can see the comparison.
I didnt say that, tho he did throw a couple of good passes, one for a try, also threw one into touch when a try was on. He was busy but fell off a couple of tackles as well. His downside more than often seems to lower his upside.I don't agree he was good against the Titans.
Just on Egan , and you are entitled to your opinion and even if yo are right ( you may be ) that he is no better than the other two in defence, but runs harder is faster and younger that alone will do me over the other two ....... He will get better as will the young brigade as the transition to top grade ....... At one stage the 3 young guys were on at the same time , it was a wolf pack ........I removed RFM for Stewart in a repost. Then I am the odd man out re Egan. Klemmer hasn't set the world on fire yetWondering if RCG is regretting not signing with us after that shellacking. Have him in a heartbeat over Klemmer, who has been conspicuous by his absence.
We agree again , he isn't doing it for me just a plodder ........Klemmer hasn't set the world on fire yet
Not getting many minutes out of him for some reason so hence very little impact perhaps he is lacking match fitness at the momentWe agree again , he isn't doing it for me just a plodder ........

And that's why I always am saying our attacking structures, not as in the past under McGregor and Griffin where I use to say attacking structure. There must always be variations to any attacking structures.
It's not just based on the titans, we've been able to capitalise on our attacking 20 opportunities in pretty much all games we've played. It's not like we beat the Titans by 2 points either, we beat them by 22 points. That's a comprehensive win.
I'd love to inject him just before half and get them each 50 odd minutes in the rotation (and I think we'llget there). The only thing I can put it down to is building up his match fitness after all the surgeries pre-season and missing most of training but I mean he looks good to go.It's bizarre. Nothing wrong with Cooks game but Liddle needs to be on for longer.
I havent seen those attacking structures and variations in the last 7 yrs. Extremely well coached and thought out structures. Scoring points if in a position to do so won't be an issue this season. This is the part I keep trying to emphasise that I'm enjoying the most, the structures are the best we've had in years and we arent struggling to build shape on either side. If we can keep building on additional options/combos like we did on the weekend (Luch ball playing, hitting the front man option, both halves combining and using Gutho as a dummy option etc) then even better, points won't be the issue.

Yup completely agree, and of those 1 & 2 is a consistency issue that can be worked on reasonably 'easily' in the scheme of things. But the biggest concerns for me are 3 & 4, dont know how you fix that, maybe it'll come as they build some confidence (it should) but you need to string some games together for that otherwise its very hard to train out of them.I havent seen those attacking structures and variations in the last 7 yrs. Converting the opportunities must be at a very high percentage even this early in the season.
Unfortunately we do have other issues the 4 I have identified so far are :
1.consistent go forward,
2.defensive line speed,
3.lack of game management, and
4. mental toughness.
3 / 4, caused us to lose 2 games by 1 point, imagine where would be on the ladder if we had got away with those 2 losses, I would suggest 3rd.

I am aware that most if not all clubs now employ a sports psychologist. I found even back in my day that mental toughness and I don't just mean an individual players pain threshold was becoming increasingly important and each individual player was different.Yup completely agree, and of those 1 & 2 is a consistency issue that can be worked on reasonably 'easily' in the scheme of things.
