Round 7 V Souths

Just from the presser , Flanno knows he is done ........ Something in the lines of the club will do what they have to do ........
I hope the CEO calls him into his office and says something like, We are willing to pay you and Kyle 150K combined to walk away otherwise we are suing for damages.

He's been using the club to line Kyle's pockets with no interest at all in building a strong, successful team that Kyle isn't a part of.

Even in the pre-game interview when Cook was expected to start on the bench he was asked who the captain was and couldn't give a straight answer until he added at the end, "Kyle will take the captains challenges." It's a black comedy for Dragons fans or just a comedy for our enemies.

Holmes is playing like a tourist

Disinterested

Poor lateral movement in defence

Limited involvement

Perhaps his ability has fallen off a cliff

Conversely, Cook played very well.

Mitchell monstered our defence. Backpedaling and sliding side ways is a recipe for disaster.

The defensive coach needs to go with SF.

Lawrie, Guler and Kerr are ineffective.

Young Tonga has lots to learn but has plenty of potential. His rounds were impactful.

Coachman’s need to be signed immediately.

Tonga extended.

Tsougranis extended.

Stewart is amazing.

Add Egan and KK and we have a good back of forwards.

Sele is a hard one. If he were less injury prone I would extend him.

Atkinson is being asked to be a playmaker because KF brings zero creativity.

We desperately need Reed to provide speed, and act as the organiser.

The back 5 are abysmal.

Sloan is a park footy player.

Fale & Tu good reserve graders.

CT worse again.

Neither Holmes or Suli are capable of making the difference in attack or defence.

Hayden Buchanan is not the answer. Small, average speed, ordinary defender. I don’t think he will reach NRL level.

Let the clean out begin.

Aside from the form of Couchman and Stewart up against big name opponents, one more positive from last night was Cook. He played 80 min and played well for the entire 80min. He shouldn't be on much money. Like maybe 200k max but if he's willing to go around one more year for that much, might be worth re-signing.

Buchanan is still 19, isn't he? Lets not write him off just yet, IMO.

I remember holmes coming into the season with an injury, maybe it's still not 100% yet but still has played very poorly. our attack looks worse than our defence which is saying something. We got a lemon in Ennis.
Dave03 Dave03 the problem when introducing new coaches is that the players need to learn new structures, new ideas, new movements new combinations.

Those players need to buy into those by executing them correctly not just going through the motions.

Sometimes when introducing new coaching styles individual players become less important in the scheme of things and take it personally.

To my eye, Holmes is just going through the motions, there appears to be no commitment or passion in the jersey at the moment.

13 missed tackles in a game is never acceptable. 12 runs for 98m from one of your strike attacking players on $850k a year is not acceptable.

I had a poster on my office wall, it simply said ," The standard you walk past is the standard you accept".

It signifies that ignoring poor behavior or low standards implies they are acceptable.

In 7 games in attack avg 14 runs for 101m, 3 line breaks, scoring 2 tries. To me that's not acceptable and he needs to be held accountable.

I would say a fair assessment based on actual performances

$850k a year is not acceptable.
ZT says he is on a cool million. Why has Vals form dropped so far from being one of our few true strike weapons to a sliver of that this season, surely not all blame can go on his switch of positions. My take is profound disappointment and frustration as Val along with Gutho and Cook ended up here to lift this once proud but now divided club. The fact is they have failed, proof of the pudding is in our continued under performing year after year. I am putting Jaydn in the mix too as these two guys have proudly repped their states and Val his country. There is much going on between their ears and most of it is negative. Our poor record has already seen Jaydn wanting out, do we really want the same with Val, a guy I believe still has plenty to offer us in ability and on the mentoring side.

Jaydn is gone, on his present form I would also be holding the door open and helping Holmes pack his bags.

The very big issue here is no longer our engine room. That is going to be very capable from now on. Its our lack of a genuine 7, our ageing spine and backs.

To that end we have Sami coming, who? Philip Sami from the highly successful Titans franchise.

A very, very sour lemon in my opinion. Was it Flanno's call to get Ennis as his assistant in attack after Carr decided to jump ship and go to Super League? If so, crook decision and crook for bringing in his baby boy, Gutho, Cook, Holmes, Atkinson, Lawson, Fale and Setu, Guler, Kerr, Sele - all failures I'm afraid - they bring no excitement to me whatsoever. Just wishy washy wasteful signings by Flanno who doesn't know talent even if it stares him right in his face. Possibly Daniel Anderson could have been involved with Fale and Setu, but Flanno would have agreed.

I am not totally convinced that KK will be of much help to us next year. Players who change clubs to earn big bickies can either be good value or turn into the take the money and not produce the goods players. I'm hoping I will be wrong, but you wait and see.

Dean Young is a loser. No chance of getting us to finals. Overall defensive record is soundly poor in my opinion. He should be discarded and never to return.

Buck stops with the head coach.
Definitely first to go, but the most responsible entity for this train wreck and where the buck should stop is the Board as it employed these three guys. A large broom needs to go thru our head quarters as it is the over paid suits that have made this once proud club and footy team a rabble to be ridiculed and I for one am disgusted that our iconic RedV symbol continues to be dragged thru the mud...
